Virginia Tech Students and Staff,

I speak on behalf of all students and staff at Valdosta State University when I say that you all are deeply in our prayers and thoughts. May something good arise from this evil. From this day until then, the VSU Blazers are now part Virginia Tech Hokies.

I have prayed for you and cried with you. I am a college student at Texas Tech, but right now I will mourn with Hokies. Words are not adequate, so I won’t write very many of them, but I can only hope the pain is less severe with each passing day.

As a recent college graduate, it is so hard for me to imagine that such a tragedy could happen on a campus much like like that of my alma mater.  A place that I felt was my home, a place where I was carefree, and a place where I spent some of the best days of my life.
My condolences and prayers go out to the all students at VT as well as the friends and families of those lost.

As parents of a McGill University student and as relatives of a Virginia Tech student and simply as fellow human beings, our hearts go out to you all.  May you stay strong and united.
May God keep you all.

To all family, friends, students, and staff,
I would like to send out my heart full of prayers for each and every one of you. We may never know the answer to why this happened or why it happened to who it did, but one thing is for sure, we must remain strong and only think of the victims and the wonderful lives they lived as well as the wonderful impact they had in many peoples lives. Why must it take something like this to bring us all together? I believe that the victims would like for us to remember their lives not their death. They all seemed so bright and full of life. Let’s all pay it forward and keep their spirit alive. I can’t describe how I feel, but that I am praying every day for those affected by the events that happened. May God bless each and every one of you,
Love,
kristin and sam

I was at work, when my athletes came into my training room and said did you hear what happened?  my heart sunk the deepest it has since april 20, 1999.  this too has hit close to home.  one of my best friends in the entire world is a med student at VT.  i immediately panicked, then eventually found that she was fine.  we had just talked the night before, about her final the following day.  when faced with tragedy things come into perspective.  you realize that the people you are surrounded by and the people you love are the most important ones in your life.  this tragedy has affected so many lives in so many different ways.  i pray for you all, and the tragedy you have faced.  today, tomorrow, and forever.

we are all hokies.

I don’t know any of you. But I would like to say to suffer any loss is tragic. But hold on and believe that the lord called them home. But strong, and keep the faith that they are in a better place. I will leave with you this scripture “ God so loved the earth that he give his only begotten son, that whoever that believeth in him will not perish; but have everlasting life”. Remember that death is temporary and in the end we will all meet again.

As young adult/child violence and anger continues to grow in our country, many are concerned.  Ten years ago a psychologist from the Dallas, TX area gave a speech of foreboding about children growing up with so much anger.  Unfortunately, his prediction has come to fruition.  I am deeply sorry for your loss.  Schools across the nation are mourning your loss.

I was shocked to read about what had happened at Virginia Tech.  I cannot imagine what you are going through right now.  Having taught at two colleges for ten years, both of which were smaller than VT, I know firsthand how such events drastically impact the lives of all of those on campus. I wanted to add that in 10 years of teaching (I am no longer in teaching, but am changing to the health-care field), I, too, dealt with troubled students, many of whom I referred for counseling. One individual told me she had a malignant brain tumor and that was not true.  Many students today need a lot of help. Colleges and universities today need to take a close look at their policies for dealing with troubled youth, so that this terrible tragedy does not ever happen again. Please know that even though I am far away, I will pray for all of you and keep you in my thoughts always. God bless you all.

I recently moved back home to Pennsylvania from Virginia. While in Virginia I would witness game day celebrations with Cars and Trucks full of people in “Hokie” gear on 81S heading to the game.  I would always ask my new found Virginia friend & family, “What is a Hokie?”. They would tell me it was a bird or a turkey or something else.  But, they are all wrong!  After hearing about the horrific tragedy at your school I like everyone else asked, “Why?”.  Today as I come to terms with what has happened, I now know what a Hokie is.  A Hokie is a friend who is strong, brave, loving, thoughtful, kind, courageous, loved, mourned, and most importantly family!  Bless all of your hearts and may your tears one day become the strength you need to accomplish your dreams.

I wish to quote my brother from a poem that he once wrote. Please understand why it comes to mind now.

“For my body, it may be over,
But for my soul – there is no End –”

Those we have lost will live on forever in our hearts, they will not be forgotten. All the families, friends, and everyone grieving will be in my thoughts.

Forever My Alma Matta – Virginia Tech
By:  Viet Tran (VT Class of 04)

How so innocent those days once were
Now all appear to be a blur
Peacefully here I sit alone and write
Random memories of the sounds and sights

Daily walk cross the drill field to class
Weekly fall football games were a blast
Monthly exams that never seems to end
Yearly ring dance with all my friends

Sadness can’t begin to describe the pain
Of so much loss and nothing gained
Injustice is all that comes to mind
Missing my Hokies that were left behind

So let’s not forget of our friends
And our families till the end
For tomorrow we shall endure and cope
To a brighter future with many hopes

Please accept my heartfelt sympathy for the great loss you have all experienced.  Seeing the deep hurt on your faces has really saddened me.  Keep praying and looking to each other for comfort.  God doesn’t put more on us than we can stand.  The ones that are gone would want you to go one but always remember and keep them in your hearts.  I have been praying for your and will keep on doing so and stay strong and stay together and don’t let the evil win.  Let the beauty of each person who died rise up and overcome the evil that has taken place and make the VA Tech the place you have always loved.

May God wrap his loving arms around all of you and comfort you.  I have been so proud of your strength and the way that you are sticking together.

Keep Praying and loving each other and let God help you to heal.

With all my heartfelt prayers.

I am not a student of Tech nor do I have any connection to Tech through anyone close to me, but these events have weighed on my heart the past few days, very heavily. My love, thoughts, and prayers go out to each and every family member and friend that has been affected by what took place on Monday. I just want these people to know you may not know me and I don’t know you but my everlasting love reaches out to you and all. Go Hokies!
