Across the country in California, my heart goes out to those who have been directly affected by this tragedy.  Though I am far away, please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

As Nikki Giovanni said, you are strong enough to stand tall tearlessly, you are brave enough to bend to cry, and you are sad enough to know that you must laugh again.

Dear Hokies, Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you during this horrendous and unbelievable time.  May you eventually find some peace from this tragedy.  You have put on a brave face for all the world to see, love each other and hold each other close.  We have a freshman son at St louis University and I know that they are saying a Mass on campus for all of you and for the victims this evening.

This seems so unreal.
I just want everyone at VT to know that the whole world feels your sorrow.

And to anyone who will listen:
Cho is now famous...is that what we want.
What kind of example does that set.

You are in my prayers… my heart breaks for your loss…

My Hereafter
by Juanita de Long

Do not come when I am dead
To sit beside a low green mound,
Or bring the first gay daffodils
Because I love them so,
For I shall not be there.
You cannot find me there.

I will look up at you from the eyes
Of little children;
I will bend to meet you in the swaying boughs
Of bud-thrilled trees,
And caress you with the passionate sweep
Of storm-filled winds;
I will give you strength in your upward tread
Of everlasting hills;
I will cool your tired body in the flow
Of the limpid river;
I will warm your work-glorified hands through the winter fire;
I will soothe you into forgetfulness to the drop, drop
Of the rain on the roof;
I will speak to you out of the rhymes
Of the Masters;
I will dance with you in the lilt
Of the violin;
And make your heart leap with the bursting cadence
Of the organ;
I will flood your soul with the flaming radiance
Of the sunrise;
And bring you peace in the tender rose and gold
Of the after-sunset.

All these things have made me happy:
They are a part of me;
I shall become a part of them.

As university students it is difficult to imagine that the lives of young students and brilliant educators can be taken under such horrific circumstanes, especially in a school environment. Now is a time for all of us to reflect and remember those that were lost, and provide support for all those in need. Our prayers go out to all the victims, families and friends of those affected by April 16th tragedy.

May they find peace.

I am so sorry that this happened. Young people taken in thier prime, just trying to get an education.  I am keeping those who died and thier families in my thoughts and prayers.  I hope that this unfortunate incident will make more institutions of higher learning aware of student and faculty safety.  Because of that, these people did not die in vain.

Once you become a Hokie, you share a bond that cannot be broken.  We pray for all of our fellow Hokies, especially those who witnessed and are suffering with the intense pain from the tragic events.  We have lost promising students, professors, and the innocence of Blacksburg.  No one had the right to take that away.

I pray that God will be with everyone who is suffering and grant comfort and in time help us all heal and move forward.  I say a special prayer for Cho’s family because they have an unfair burden to bare.

God bless all those who hurt.

Dear Virginia Tech,

I know you have no idea who I am, but my name is Brittany Dennis and I am a mother of a 9 month old, a wife, and a student at Kansas State University and I just wanted to tell you how deeply sorry and saddened by his horrific event.  I thought how it could have been me and leaveing my baby or the thought if it possibly being my son some day and it was unbearable.  So I can’t even begin to fathom the pain that is being felt for all of the parents and family, friends and everyone.  My prayers and love are with all of the victims whos’ lives have been tragically cut short, families, friends, those who miraculously survived the attack, and all of the students at Virginia Tech.  God bless each and every one of you.  I send all of my love as well as my family and your family here at K-State.

With deepest sympathy and Love,
Brittany Dennis

As our fellow Hokies fell, we all came together to console one another.  Hokie Nation has taken a hit, but will NEVER be down and out.  Monday has taken its toll on everyone, whether it be Hokies of past and present, or the world over, we must never forget that we WILL prevail and over come such a travesty.  My heart goes out to the families of the fallen, I know its been a hard few days for me.  Matt P
