We are heartfully sorry about what has happened to the students at VT. We as the whole Marine Corps deal with loss everyday but in a different way. Many Students here at our school know someone that was at VT that day. I personally know how bad it feels. My cousin was killed in the WTC and a fellow Marines wife died in the plane that went into the pentagon. It is a slow process to somewhat move on but memories will always be there. Stay strong, and united as one and you will never be defeated.

ON BEHALF OF THE STUDENTS @ ST.FRANCIS COLLEGE IN BROOKLYN: This tragedy has affected college communities all over.  I loved the way your university banded together during such dark and trying times.  I will continue to pray for all of you that are hurting and for those who are no longer with us.  I do hope that in time, you all will feel safe again on your campus because for many of you VT is your home away from home.

Best Wishes,

My love to all the families of those who were lost.  I’m a pre-veterinary student at Columbia, and the story of Emily Hilscher was especially moving for me.  The loss of someone much like myself has reaffirmed my will to become a animal doctor. I am going to keep the candle I lit at tonight’s vigil on campus, and the day I graduate from vet school, I will re-light it in remembrance of her.  Perhaps I can live a dream for two.

Please accept our sincerest expression of sympathy to the families who have lost loved ones and the University who has lost part of their University family as well.
We have been so impressed with your students who have shown such bravery and integrity during this terrible ordeal. You at VaTech must be so proud of your student body - they are wonderfully articulate and so obviously dedicated to your Hokie Family!
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Most Sincerely, The Merullo Family

“On a day of burial there is no perspective—for space itself is annihilated. Your dead friend is still a fragmentary being. The day you bury him is a day of chores and crowds, of hands false or true to be shaken, of the immediate cares of mourning. The dead friend will not really die until tomorrow, when silence is round you again. Then he will show himself complete, as he was—to tear himself away, as he was, from the substantial you. Only then will you cry out because of him who is leaving and whom you cannot detain.”

^quote / Antoine de Saint-Exupery

May all my prayers and condolences go out to each and every victim, their family, and the staff and students at Virginia Tech. Things like this only make you a stronger person. Each person is in a better place and will be better taken care of. They shouldn’t have been taken from this world in that way...but I guess it was their time...and we will miss them dearly and they will have our spots ready for us when it is our time…

Fellow Hokies-

It has been said that this could have happened anywhere...but I never in a million years could have imagined this happening at Virginia Tech....your school, my school.  No, not at Tech.  Not at the place where some of my best memories come from.  But it did happen, as evil does seem to sometimes find a way to rear it’s ugly head in some of the most beautiful places.

But we all know that evil has not won at Tech.  Goodness will prevail.  Each and every one of you will prevail through your Hokie stength, courage, and pride.  You are in our thoughts and prayers here in North Carolina.  Stay strong Hokies!

As I continue to watch the sad stories of all the innocent victims and the bright futures that were snuffed from us, my heart just aches.  I just cannot bear to think how the hearts of their family members must be just so sad & broken now.  My heart just “aches” when I think about those 32 lost “lights of hope”.  Perhaps Norris Hall can be totally renovated inside & turned into a Memorial Hall in tribute for those 32 victims with perhaps a museum highlighting their VT accomplishments, honoring those seniors who were just 2 weeks away from graduating & maybe a small chapel for pause & reflection.  Each April 16 can be a Day of Remembrance & Hope for VT w/classes being cancelled that day as a symbol of respect.  I don’t think anyone is ever going to want to take classes in that building again, but this way could honor their memory.  Some type of tribute chair or bench or some type of memorial could be put in that hall for each victim, that they shall not have been gunned down in vain.  We will never forget them & will always try to honor their memory.

We also are university students and it’s impossible to imagine what all of you students, families and teachers have gone through, but we want you to know that we support you, we think of you and we want to encourage everyone that has been affected in some way by this disaster. Come stop your crying,
It’ll be all right.
Just take my hand,
Hold it tight.

I will protect you
From all around you.
I will be here,
Don’t you cry.

For one so small,
You seem so strong.
My arms will hold you,
Keep you safe and warm.
This bond between us
Can’t be broken.
I will be here,
Don’t you cry.

‘Cause you’ll be in my heart.
Yes, you’ll be in my heart.
From this day on,
Now and forever more.

You’ll be in my heart,
No matter what they say.
You’ll be here
In my heart, always.
Always
