Parents, Students, Faculty, Family and Community Members,
As parent of a college freshman and as a teacher, I read and listen in horror at what you are going through.  Please know that there are many people thinking and praying for you in this terrible time.  We want to know about your loved ones; we want to hear how wonderfully intelligent and caring they all were. We want to know how wonderful they made your life.  It is important to us, so please share this with us.  As selfish as it sounds, we need to heal with you.  We share in your grief, and we will never forget this tragedy as long as we live.  This has taught us to hold our own children a little closer and to put our own troubles in perspective.  Please know that you are forever in our thoughts.

My thoughts and prayers go out to ALL the families affected by this TRAGIC event! I sincerely pray that the Lord will provide His peace and comfort to all who are hurting in the most profound way. It is also my prayer that those who do not know God will come to know Him through this difficult period, as opposed to falling away from Him. I know there are a lot of unanswered questions-mainly “Where was God when this took place?” While I don’t have the answer to everything, I do know this: He was the same place He was when HIS Son died on the cross. Though we don’t understand everything, we have to remember that GOD gave man free will. With the free will, there are CONSEQUENCES to the choices we make. The sad part is that sometimes those choices tend to affect innocent people. But know that there JUDGEMENT! We all have to answer for what we do and do not do in this life, and that young boy WILL have to answer to GOD! BELIEVE THAT! God is JUST and FAIR! He will NOT let him go unpunished even though it seems like he took the easy way out! NOT SO! There IS life after death and the payment there is MUCH more severe than anything man could do to us on earth! GOD IS STILL IN CONTROL! GOD BLESS and KEEP YOU ALL!!!

GO HOKIES !!!!!!!!!!!

I pray for everyone and their families at VT. My heart swells and the tears flow watching the poise and grace in which everyone handled this tragedy. The babies who started to leave their mark on this world. I pray for their souls and that their friends and family never forget them and the hope they brought !

I bristle at the blame the media is trying to put on the faculty/administration at VT - but they too will overcome. I pray you all stick together and put forth the love and fellowship a school community can bring. Block out the rest - God will take care of that. Just go forth as a community in education and relish in the love and promise those you (we) have lost and move on knowing we still have hope for YOU ALL !

God has to protect our children because they will be like we were, charging ahead in our life like there is no evil.

My heart goes out to each and every one of you guys at Virginia Tech ! You’ve showed so much poise and valor.

MUCH LOVE TO YOU ALL AND KNOW WE WILL BE WEARING YOUR COLORS FRIDAY AT MY JOB.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL

GO HOKIES !!!

PS the media needs to stop with the reasons . There are no reasons . It was evil and it deserves no mention.

To the students faculty and staff at Virginia Tech,

Like many of the comments have said though I am very far away I am still deeply saddened by the events that transpired on that fateful day.  While I do not know what you are going through I still feel your pain and I feel your sadness.  From all the members of First Baptist Church in Portales New Mexico We are Praying for you.  This was an unexplainable act and I know you are searching for answers.  My prayer for you is that those answers will be found.  As I watch the news and read articles from Blacksburg I am reminded of what the bible says about this it tells us that everything happens for the good of the lord and for those who love and trust him.  While you may want instant answers I have faith that you will find those answers in due time.  I know that you will overcome this.  It might take a while but you will overcome it I have confidence in that.  I also know it will strengthen your Campus and your town and your state.  I am praying for your strength and wisdom in the coming days and weeks and I am praying for the healing process to begin and for you to find peace

GO HOKIES

My family and myself are just at awe of the senseless death of the innocent.  As I pray for you students, family, and faculty I hope that sometime soon you will find the comfort and help you are seeking.  The whole nation is mourning with you and you are not alone.  I myself have a lot rage going thru me about this unspeakable person who has done this and letting the blame lay with everyone but himself.  No one is at fault but him.  I ask God to help me calm my rage I feel for the pain this thing has done to everyone in my community, hokie community.  I will find my grace and so will you.  God bless you all and my prayers are with you all the time.

As a fellow Hokie, I’m feeling both grief and Hokie pride with all of you at Virginia Tech. As I watched all of you at the convocation and the candlelight vigil, I felt your pain and sorrow—but was also so proud to be a Hokie among you, holding your heads high and sticking together like a family. The love you are showing for each other and those lost in this tragedy breaks my heart—and makes me proud of you all.  My thoughts and prayers go out to you.

Stay strong… we will overcome.  WE ARE VIRGINIA TECH.

I am impressed though with the courageous hearts and optimism of the Blacksburg community.

We want to express our condolences to our colleagues and friends, and their families, at VT. On windy Monday morning, 16 April (ironically, International Holocaust Remembrance Day), the “Hokie Nation” experienced its own Holocaust in the form of our country’s worst mass murder. Tech will never be the same nor will those who lost loved ones and friends, but you all should know that at this time we feel part of the Hokie Nation. May God bless you all.

Tech Wind

Whistle wind! Embrace the lost.
Send spirits with loud moans.
Silence radiant flowers.
Break still order like our rage.

Hum hair before low faces,
Liquid tangles blown below.
Hide eyes from icy sunlight,
Bright bullets slice the soul.

Cut power cut exposing lights
There’s nothing to be seen.
Crumple trees’ blanketing leaves
And dismiss whatever’s green.

Drown smiling drown laughter
With the honesty of loss.
Take, wind, our silent prayers
And the torrent wave of thoughts.

Pound windows, fling the darkness down
Let each feel each’s chill.
Make haughty grass bow down its stalk
And mourn for all those killed.

I am so sorry.  It is unbearable to think of so many experiencing so much senseless pain.  Here in the Midwest it feels so surreal - possibly a defense mechanism - it’s too horrible to have really happened.  But it did, and I am so sorry.

Due to ‘personal problems’ that I had growing up, I never gave college a second thought.  My main goal was to graduate high school, and go straight into the job force!  As I have watched the HORRIFIC acts that have taken place at VT over the past few days, I now see what I missed by not going to college.  VT seems like one big happy family and I’m assuming all other colleges are the same, I wish I could have experienced college life for myself, if only I could go back in time… I just want to commend everyone who is still with us today, and I want to say how sorry I am for the ones that are not and to their friends and families as well.

You are in my prayers!

To all who lost a child in this horrific rampage of unnecisary death. As a mother who has lost two of my four sons, one 16 and one 46, my deepest sympathy goes out to you with my prayers for your healing.  A little advice from one who knows, go imemediately for consouling as soon as you get that feeling that you cannot face another day.  There are books like “Healing Your Grieving Heart” by Alan D. Wolfelt PHD and “Good Grief” by Grander E. Westberg that can help you through each day.

I was given a beautiful book “Angel Catcher” written by a mother and sister after their loss of a son and brother. It is a grieving journal to help you capture forever the treasured memories of your loved one.  It is published by Chronical Books, written by Kathy and Amy Eldon.

I fear I sound cold and practical but I am in tears as I write, I ache for you and your loss.  I will think of you and pray for you every day as I pray for my sons. Martha Slattery
