Condolences, April 18, 2007

This was written by my 12 year old son a couple of weeks ago and we felt like it fit this horrible event.

At This Moment

At this moment,
Someone is dying,
At this moment,
A child is crying,
At this moment,
There should be love,
But at this moment,
There is not enough.

At this moment,
Someone is killing,
So at this moment,
Love is not fulfilling,
At this moment,
A child is lost,
At this moment,
Someone can’t afford the cost.

You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I pray for God’s healing for all the friends and family of the victims. My sorrow over this incident is boundless, and I feel deep sorrow for the antagonist. That noone reached out to this man during his suffering, that noone recognized his needs. This, too, is a tragady. To let one life’s cries for help go unanswered. To allow an individual to suffer alone.
This is all just too much.

My Condolences go out to the students, facilty, and families of those that lost loved ones in this tragedy. I am a high school and sometimes college teacher that knows that everyone must be vigilant about students that need psychological counseling. It is sad that the university did not listen to the murderer’s poetry professor.

Here I am, sharing my condolences. Never done this before and I hope I’ll never have to do it again. This tragedy cannot be describe. From a student to other, let me say that I am hoping that all the students, teachers and the members of Virginia Tech will go on with their live and may live a normal life after this terrible time. Some months ago, here in Québec, we had this kind of tragedy and I’m confused about what to think...violence, hatered, war, dead, killing isn’t what life is suppose to be about..

Let me finish with the words of Plato:
“Only the deads have seen the end of wars”

Peace,

François Desmarais

We are the Hokies

We are the Hokies
We who have graced your hallowed halls
Bleed now through our endless tears of grief
We are the Hokies
Our hearts laid raw by this senseless act
Our minds enraged
We are the Hokies
We have stumbled under the weight of this great tragedy
But we stand as one once again
We are the Hokies
Proud and tall
Ever mindful of the precious lives we have lost
We are the Hokies
And we will never forget.
