I am deeply devastated by the tragic events.  However, the students, faculty, and members of the Blacksburg community are to be commended.  I’ve always stood tall as a Hokie, but will forever stand taller now.  Much love.  Let’s go HOKIES!

April 18, 2007, 8:53pm • Chino, CA • #22654

I lived in Blacksburg for 16 years, but I’ve never wanted to be with my Hokie family more than in the last 2 days. Even though many of us cant be there, we’re still all together in spirit.

I am extremely saddened by the events at VT. The senseless act of one individual has affected so many innocent people. Its really sad that we live in a society today where we are not safe at school, home, or the business place. Times have really changed over the last20 years. My heart goes out to each family affected, you are in my prayers.

So the boats arrived and they have sailed.  Each of you had your own and have sailed in separate directions.  I wish you all calm seas and smooth sailing, for who knows where you are, where you’re going or when we shall meet again.  I am content with this since thats how life is.  People come and go and as much as you don’t want to see them leave, you have to let them go.

Thoughts and prayers to all the students of VT....

My boyfriend is a staff member of Tech and an alum, I’m a UVA grad student myself. He was not in town when it happened, but the possibility of “what if” struck me very deeply. I cannot imagine the kind of grief that is being felt by those who’s “what if” is a reality.

To all the Hokies of past and present, and to all those connected to Hokies, may the grief you feel now turn into fond memories later of those lost. May you find temporary solace in the love and support surrounding you by everyone in this nation and beyond. Most of all, may you eventually find the light that is now lost during these dark times.

Times like these we are no longer Hoos or Hokies, but rather human beings grieving together. From one human being to another, my deepest respect and condolence for the difficult time you now face and for the difficult time you’ll have to face long after the cameras are gone.

The resurface of hope is my wish for everyone.

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff of Virginia Tech,

Our family would like to extend our most heart felt condolences to each and everyone of you concerning the horrific act of violence that recently occurred on your campus. We pray for you and for your understanding of this situation which will take some time.  If anything good could come out of this it would be that every educational campus in the USA is probably reviewing their security measures so something like this can be avoided in the future and no one will have to suffer as are all of you.

May God continue to guide you through the healing process. Our prayers remain yours.

Respectfully,

The French Family

We know your world has been turned upside down and nothing seems real.  But time and the love of others will slowly ease your pain.  Take it a day at a time and don’t be hard on yourselves.  It will take time but you will eventually regain your sense of direction.  In the meantime, our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

My grandfather graduated from Virginia Tech in the forties, and my cousin graduated last year.  If I’d been lucky enough to be accepted, I’d have gone as well.
Our family has alway loved the Gobblers and now, more than ever, I am so proud of this fine school.  They have shown great dignity and compassion during the worst of times.
I teach fifth grade down in South Carolina (Gamecock Country). Friday, our school will wear the Hokie colors.  I’ve already seen many students in the halls wearing Va Tech gear.
We are all so very proud to call ourselves HOKIES.
God bless you all.

I’m sorry.

My family and I would like to say that our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the victims.  This is a truly sad tragedy not only for our university, but for the world to know that things like this happen. This really opened my eyes and made me realize that anything can happen anywhere. Of all places, if this can happen in Blacksburg, VA, it can happen anywhere. We must never take anything for granted. This is not how we want the world to know VT. So lets show the world what VT is really about; the school spirit, the unity, the pride to be a Hokie. For the friends and families of the victims, we are truly and deeply sorry for your loss. Just know that the entire VT family supports you and has you in their prayers. God Bless.

May God be with all of you and comfort you at this time as we all continue to grieve the loss of so many people who didn’t deserve this.
