To all at Virginia Tech University from a family who lives in Rural Indiana.

Please accept our deepest and heartfelt sadness and condolences for all of the horrific losses and tragedies that occured at your fine University. We know that the Lord who loves and created all is sobbing with us for the loss of so fine a student body and the wonderful individuals who lost their lives on Monday. We believe that the God that we serve is also a God of all of us.He is a God of mercey and love, even though at a time like this it is hard to find any positives in such a situation. When we see the faces of the wonderful young people who are now with God, we see amazing, fantastic young people who we know honor their parents and their families. We as a nation, must honor them by continuing to love and care for each other and go on to make something great out of what was meant for evil. I have served as a Mental Health Professional for many years. If I can encourage or support someone through e mails or card, phone calls etc. I would be happy to do so. My e mail is cplum@citznet.com. “ I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from which cometh my help” We will never forget you-we continue to pray for you day and night.

My dad taught me to say “I love you” everyime you get off the phone with your loved ones. Everyone should practice this, so there is nothing left unsaid when tragedy like this happens. All of the friends and family involved in this horrible incidence are in my prayers. Nobody deserves this…

My husband, Eugene Ray Felton (’51) died in 1995 was a real Hokie.  We lived off campus, he was a GI.  I have so many fond memories. Two of my children are VA TECH graduates, as well as two brothers and a son-in-law, so I have strong ties.  My heart goes out to all those who are suffering from this horrible event.

Virginia Tech holds a very special place in my heart.  I lived there for five years while my husband earned his M.Arch degree.  My older son was born in Blacksburg.  I have lived in a few places in my life, but I must say that Blacksburg is the warmest, most beautiful community that I have ever known.  My thoughts and prayers are with them during this very difficult time.  My husband died four years ago at a very young age.  I find comfort in knowing that he is with those beautiful students and faculty who lost their lives this past Monday morning.

There is nothing that can shatter a heart more than a loss of a child. Jesus has taken them into his care. May the Lord sustain the families who lost their children to the madness of this world.
May they somehow find peace though it be hard to do. May they somehow forgive though it may be hard to do.
May school officials everywhere learn that early warning is needed immediately when an event such as this occurs and not just a text message or an email but an audible code, that can be heard all over campus, like a beacon from a fire station or an old air raid alert immediately when there is a clear and present danger to the student population.
God bless all of you in your grief.

My thoughts are with the family and friends of the victims, as well as the entire school and it’s extended family.  It is disgusting that one sick individual could cause such pain and anguish.  Be strong, as strong as you can, to get through this terrible time.  You all have an entire nation’s support and love behind you.

Virginia Tech,

Like most Australians living in 1996, I (as a five year old) was horrified and saddened when 35 people were murdered during at the Port Arthur Historic Site massacre in Tasmania. Seeing the pictures of the two little girls murdered by the killer splashed across all newspapers was chilling, a cold reminder of what humans are capable again.

Seeing the news footage from the VT massacres brought back that sadness for a lot of people in the country, even though we’re thousands of kilometres away from Virginia and the US, our thoughts and hopes are with you all, and our sympathies go out to all those involved and the families of the victims.

We hope you can work through this.

"Because we do not know when we will die, we get to think of life as an inexhaustible well, and yet everything happens only a certain number of times . How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood that is so deeply a part of your being you can’t even conceive of your life without it? Perhaps four or five times more? Perhaps not even that. How many more times will you watch the full moon rise? Perhaps, twenty. And yet it all seems limitless.”
