Dear God,
Why?  only you have that answer!  However, I know that my God is good and my God is love.  And I know that today hearts hurt and a nation grieves- yet again.  Lord, heal us.  Wrap your arms around those student- let them feel your peace.  Give this generation the power to stand up for you and call evil for what it is.  Lord, please hold those close that are morning- give them peace, God.  Heal this pain and let forgiveness flow and so that community can be stronger than ever. Dear God, hold them close.

Being a parent of a college student myself and an aunt to a VT student(not harmed), my thoughts, prayers and sympathy go to all families effected by this horrific event. My tears only console own grief and I cannot imagine the grief of all the parents.  I wished I could do more than post this comment.  I believe that in all things something good emerges, hopefully some help for our mental health system in this country.

From Idaho State University our hearts ache with you, our eyes shed tears for you, our minds will forever hold the memory of these lives stolen so soon in the prime of their lives. We hail the heros who saved lives even losing theirs selflessly. Let us also remember that this was only one South Korean’s individual act so we should not treat other South Koreans in anger ore retaliation. May God bring comfort, eventual peace and somehow hope in time to the family, friends, and community of Virginia Tech!

Dear Good People of Virginia Tech,
I’m from the Atlanta area, so the Falcon’s Mike Vick is one connection I have with you. My only baby girl marries next week. She’s eighteen. She put off college for a while, so she could have been one of you. Bless your hearts.
I remember how I felt when I learned President Kennedy had been assassinated. I wept then and I weep now. Things like this don’t get any easier to accept or understand.
I suppose my dearest connection with you is the several dates I enjoyed performing for you at the Hokie House over the past 10 or 15 years as a standup. You dudes and dudettes are truly some of the greatest kids I have ever met.
Draw your friends and family around you, and know there are millions and I mean MILLIONS of people around the world praying for you and thinking of you.
I love you, but I can’t think of anything funny right now....unless you guys thought of a different name for the New River yet. It’s really been there for a long time.
REMEMBER! YOU ARE THE HOKIES!
Best of wishes forever,
Ben Beall

Dear Fellow Hokies, Families, and Friends,

This morning we found comfort in the verses of the hymn “On Christ the Solid Rock I Stand”

My hope is built,
On nothing less,
Than Jesus’ love,
And Righteousness.

And I dare not trust,
The sweetest frame,
But wholly trust,
In Jesus’ name.

On Christ the Solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness seems to hide His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.

On Christ the Solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.

His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.

On Christ the Solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.

When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh may I then in Him be found.
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

On Christ the Solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.

We are praying for all of you as fellow hokies and alum.

As a Virginian, I am heartbroken by the loss of so many promising young lives and those who made careers of guiding and nurtuing those bright futures.  I am also angered by that fact that this university, with its tradition of excellence in all aspects of college life, has come to the national forefront, not for that excellence, but for this tragedy.  I am confident that the students and faculty of Virginia Tech will not allow anyone to define the rest of their lives or the legacy of their school.  I know that they will write their own history, and it will continue on and be remembered - not for this tragedy, but for extraodinary strenth, resilience and courage.  We pray for you sll.

Dear people of Virginia Tech,

In our weakness, sorrow, limitedness, and anxiety, our Lord Jesus Christ is there to save us in the infiniteness of His loving-kindness.  May the love of God the Father, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you and on all of us.  May our God deliver us from all unseemly things and guide us to desire and do His will.  May our God illuminate our hearts with the light of the Gospel to pave the way unto repentance and everlasting life.  May our Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, have mercy on us sinners to soothe us, comfort us, help us, heal us and take away our pain since we are all in so much need.  Remember that God’s love is everywhere and His mercy is immeasurable.  Let us also therefore try to love one another and forgive each other.  Countless people are praying to God for you; therefore, remember to pray for us as well.

God bless us all and God bless you all at Virginia Tech.

My prayers are not only with the families and friends, But the whole Tech community who are forced remember this everytime they think of thier college experience, and the students who have had to leave for home just to be able to breathe. Most everyone is taking it pretty hard. Just know that the nation is mourning with you. We all feel like Hokies.

To those affected by the tragedy, I send to you my deepest condolences, apologies, and my best wishes for the future. I can only apologize for your losses as it’s impossible to know what hell you’ve gone through throughout the past couple of days. I would also like to thank the kind soles who have also posted condolences as it shows that there are those who care all around the world.

“Courage, it would seem, is nothing less than the power to overcome danger, misfortune, fear, injustice, while continuing to affirm inwardly that life with all its sorrows is good; that everything is meaningful even if in a sense beyond our understanding; and that there is always tomorrow.”—Dorothy Thompson

And so I say, let us all have courage in this time of mourning.

God bless,
