I just want to be simple and say that my thoughts and prayers are with all of the families and people that were affected by this. It’s very hard to deal with this, it seems like there is so much tragedy… and being a student myself at IU ... I couldn’t image what ya’ll are going through. So with that said ... May you be comforted with thoughts of others, rejoice in the good times and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers!!

I am an American college student currently studying abroad for a semester, and I send all my thoughts and prayers back home this week in the wake of this tragedy.  Of the images of the events that have filtered to my access here, I see not only tears but many embraces, many loving eyes, and many images of hope and healing.  I pray that events like this remind us all of our beauty and importance to each other, and that those most directly affected find support and comfort in the community of people around them, around the country, and around the world who share their loss.

All my wishes for healing and hope,
Lauren

To all Virginia Tech students,

My prayers go out to all of you and especially to the students and families directly affected by the events.  Your spirit is an inspiration to college students around the country.  We all can learn from your unity.  We will never forget those lost on the 16th, and we college students as a whole must strive forward to prevent any such occurrence in the future.  God bless you all.

To the family, friends, and colleagues of those we have lost, please accept the warm embrace of comfort that God, as you know God to be, is near, offering peace to your sorrow.

To the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University community, please accept our heart felt condolences for the loss you have suffered.

To the State of Virginia, please accept our gratitude for your support during the aftermath of this terrible tragedy.

To the people of the United States, please accept the recognition in time that what has occurred here tells us yet again, we have lost our way.

We however can, do and will show each other and the world that love for each other, for the sake of humanity, will win the day in the end.  The courage to have hope is our challenge.

Godspeed.

I am deeply saddened and grieved by this occurrence. I pray for all families that have lost a loved one, and those who may have been injured during this act of hatred.

Jesus, you are our everything.
Oh Lord, I come to you now asking
you to comfort these families.
Give them peace oh God.
Oh God stretch out your hand of
comfort even in this time of despair.
Lord, we know you to be a healer.
Even now we ask you to help us
in forgiving him for he knows
not what he has done.
Come now oh Lord,
Come.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

To the students and families of Virginia Tech
My deepest thoughts and prayers are with you and your families during this tragic event. It is so sad to realize this horrid incident could occur in a place that inteligent people gather to develop their mind, spirits and futures.  One thing I have noticed is what a strong sense of family and toghetherness your student body has shown the country.  This sense of community will help you heal and move forward with strenght and dignity.  I would also like to send an additional message to the greek community at VT.  I have many friends in several of the organizations represented on your campus.  Dig deep, think about the meaning of your creeds, exemplars and mottos.  Pull from this strength and bond you have, do the extrodinary for your school, show the country the wonderful things the Greek community can do, how strong and caring we can be! God Bless all of you at VT and your families.

To the Hokie Nation,

As as loyal WVU fan I would always hear the cheer at the WVU/VT football games: What the Hell is a Hokie?  Well, this week we have found the answer: the absolute strongest, most endured people on the face of the Earth.  May God bless all those at Virginia Tech and those who have loved ones involved in this tragic and senseless event.

I wish to express my deepest sympathy to all of the families of the victims.  I have been touched deeply by the loss of such promising lives.  I am 43 and have been seriously ill the past 2 years and I keep wondering why I am still here and all those wonderful souls were taken.  My mission is to now pray for them, their families, and the entire VT community.

I have held this excerpt of Footprints close to my heart in times of heartache.
“I don’t understand why in times when I needed you most,
you should leave me.”
The Lord replied, “My precious, precious child,
I love you and I would never, never leave you
during your times of trial and suffering.
“When you saw only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you.”

I pray for everyone there and when you are ready you will move on but never will you forget those lost on April 16th and neither will anyone else. Hold your friends close and share what you have because hate may bread hate but love will always overcome.

We are Hokies
and as Hokies we are strong at heart
and stick together in good times and bad
Hokies never give up
and will always put up a fight to protect our own
Hokies don’t point fingers to blame
and Hokies don’t ask why
Hokies will work this out
and never let the memories of our own die
Hokies don’t like to refer to this as a “Massacre”
and don’t like the media’s drama
We prefer to get through this “Tragedy” together
for We are Hokies
and Hokies We Are :)
