Condolences, April 18, 2007

God help the families and friends. Give them strength as this tragedy gets worse and the media becomes overwelming.

To VT-- stick together even as the media tries to pick and pull everything apart. We are a family of students. Don’t let the world change us. I hope we all begin to find peace.

It’s wierd how everyone goes about their everyday lives without worry, yet tragedies like this bring us all together. It’s depressing to see the sad ways people find peace. After columbine, to have happen this happen, to wonder what could have been done to prevent this. Yet,there is no point in focusing on the “what if’s.” Instead, we really should learn from the apalling acts of one person. Try to be better people. Make an effort to meet people.
Being a college student myself, I know how easy it is to become alienated. With so many students, we become just a number. When I’m walking on campus and i get a smile from a stranger, it really does brighten up my day. We have to learn from all the devastating experiances and just try to be better individuals.
I hope all those families mourning find some confort and move forward. As for the departed, may they rest in peace.

The pain you all feel is being shared by the nation. Allow yourself to grieve. But take from this the lesson that life is precious, so live your days richly, love those around you, love yourself and make the world a better place. Seek help if you need it, don’t close off the world and remember the world still holds the promise it did before this.

Dear Hokie Nation,

As the whole nation grieves with you, so do I. This was a senseless and tragic event and there is never any rationale for why this type of thing happens. It just does. Know that the whole country feels your pain and shares and embraces the memories of those lost on Monday.

During the 1980s, I spent a lot of time in Blacksburg playing with a band called the Roadducks. Our whole band sends its best wishes and condolescenses to you and know you are not alone - your spirit will triumph above all and our whole country is with you!! I love the school, the people in the valley, and your engineering department. I hope my kids will be able to attend Tech soon. Stay strong!! This too will pass.

Take the time to heal, learn to forgive and may the politicians and all who have title within the judicial system take action and bring comfort to those who have suffered such an emotional loss.  The world was made to say “good-bye” to 32 beautiful beings and has left an ache in so many hearts through out the world.  Lessons should be taught with books, not with bullets. The “United States” has the word “United” in it for a reason, you will unite as one.  You didn’t have to know these victims to feel pain and share tears of sadness.  Together we shall make the memories of those lives lost be honoured with dignity and share a valiant vision for a future of safety in our schools and neighbourhood’s. Embrace those you love and pray for those whose hearts have been shattered.
To the family and friends of these victims,
God Bless , and in our hearts and prayers you shall remain.
