Condolences, April 18, 2007

As your northern neighbors, we as well share in your sorrow and grief, at this very difficult time.

May God wrap His loving arms around all affected by this senseless act; our prayers and thoughts are with you.

As a University of Texas student, I am aware of the fact that our two universities will share this sad memory forever.

In the name of my whole country, France, which has been also deeply shocked by this horrible tragedy, I ensure all families and friends of the victims that political arguments do not minimize the pain and depth of the prayers and condolences Europe addresses to them.

May you all find the strength to go through this.
Emmanuelle.

I wish I could wipe away the tragedy that has befallen my beloved school. I wish I could give the students who now walk the campus that I will always adore, back their innocence. I wish the regrets of their college days would be the from the foolishness of their youth, and not the insanity of a madman.

Your time at Virginia Tech, though marred by tragedy, is fleeting and precious. Do not let that be stolen from you.

You have made your family proud in your response to this tragedy.  Thank you for showing the world what it means to be a Hokie.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ.”
2 Corinthians 1:3-5

May you feel Gods presence as He is hold you in his arms.

I finally understand the feeling of a heavy heart.  There are a million things that I am sorry for today.  I am sorry that people had to die, old and young.  I am sorry for the families having to deal with this loss.  I am sorry for all of the students that will look back at their time at Virginia Tech and have this as a memory.  The list is endless.  There are many other things that I am thankful for.  I was lucky enough to be one of the many students touched by Dr. Loganathan.  He was a kind and generous man that dedicated his time producing many fine engineers from the civil engineering department.  Many of his hours were spent with the students when he should have been home.  Although I don’t remember him saying it, he had a full open door policy.  No appointments necessary.  None needed.  I knew that if I needed him he was there and I took advantage of it.  Thank you for being so selfless and one of the finest.  We will miss you.
Hokies, keep making us proud!

I’d like to send my thoughts and condolences to the Virginia Tech family. As I watch the news report I’m pleased on how you the student body take comfort of each other in this time of need. To the staff, I know it was hard to hear your fellow workers killed take comfort on one other and their families especially their spouses and children. Go VT!!!

I’m writing to you,the things that weighed on my thoughts.By many hidden means,I’m inspired to help you all by my prayers and tears of gentle love,to instill a glimmer of hope in your hearts. I was terribly sorry to learn about the death of your colleagues. Please accept my expression of sorrow for the events of this week.
I cannot fathom how every one of you must be trying to understand and cope with this.
I know how hard this must be for you. While there’s nothing I can say that will ease your loss,I wanted you to know I am grieving with you.My thoughts are with you at this unfortunate moment.I’ve read from somewhere that,"When the storms of life gather, and waves of trials buffet you, you can guide the boat of your life safely to the divine shores “.During trying times such as this, what we need is Divine guidance- a wisdom beyond ourselves.Pain and pleasure are transitory. Endure all dualities with calmness.
You are the Spirit which is all light, all love, wisdom and knowledge.I’m praying for your comfort.

With my deepest sympathy and love,

From the moment of such a devastating tragedy the world has cried with you, felt pain, and prayed for those directly involved in the rampage and chaos. Prayers are also being said for all of the individuals, families, co-workers, students etc… Of course we may not be able to fathom such a feeling as you directly but hearts from across the country are with you, as well as prayers. I know that lives will be celebrated and the connection that you all have as a family will allow you to stand up and move forward in the light of those students lost. They are all now angels and will be admiring you as much as we all admire them for such courage and compassionate lives.
Do not go where the path may lead...Go instead where there is no path
and leave a trail.  Ralph Waldo Emerson
This reminded me of the family that you all have become. Instead of rage and anger you all have chosen a path of love, family, and prayers to get through such devastation. You will leave a trail for the American People. We do need to stick together and take care of one another and maybe we could be stronger in all aspects of our lives. Thank you Hokies!!!

I have no words to express my sorrow and sadness for what happend at the Virginia Tech...no words, no prayers are enough to fill the empty space left in our hearts for the lost of yours/our friends, yours/our teachers…
But a question came up to my mind: Why God allowed that? what did he wanted us to learn? why this way?
33 innocent people, 30 students like me lost their lives...it’s scary.
Every time I think of what happened at the VT a tear comes down my eyes. Is so sad that a guy of my age killed athe people of the same age...his friends, his teachers...why? it could have been me or you who are reading.
I can’t say that the victims will be in my prayers bcause I don’t believe in God...but I can say that I will remember them for the rest of my life, I promise. I would have loved to have the chance to know them, to touch them, to talk to them...but even if I hadn’t, I will miss them. Forever in my heart.

I did not know much about Virginia Tech before the tragic events of April 16th.  Through the many news reports, special programs, and articles in the newspapers, I have come to know more about a wonderful, loving, and brave community made up of some very impressive students, teachers, administrators, and support staff.  May God bless you all and bring you comfort during this very sad time.  I want you to know that I share your grief and I will keep you always in my prayers.

To the VT Family,

I send my heartfelt prayers and condolences to the victims, the families, and the entire VT community.  You have indeed shared a great loss. We must reflect on the good things about what makes the university great and the people that shaped our lives.  I had never witness nothing of this stature in all my years.  Just know, that I and those around me will continue to pray and do whatever we can to help in the healing process.

Remember there is comfort in the dark, hope for despair.  May God bless each and all and always remain in the atmosphere of miracles.

Dear all the Hokies out there,
Although I am only 15, and dont attend VT I have been so affected and torn up by these sad events I can’t even begin to explain.  I know so many people who attend this school and just the thought of them not being with me anymore is unbearable.  So I pray and think about all those families and friends who did lose somebody close to them.  Now, more than ever, I truly feel like a Hokie.  Both of my parents are hokie graudates and I have been going to VT games all my life. The one thing that Virginia Tech has taught me is how spirited, loving, and supportive this hokie family is. After football games, I leave thinking wow this school is just like a family, so close, so spirited, so united, and I definetely want to be a part of this when I go to college.  VT is where I want to be for college as I know it is not only a great school, it has a great community.  On Friday, and for days after that, I will definetely be wearing those Hokie colors, to show my pride, my condolences, and my love, for all my fellow hokies out there! My thoughts and prayers are with you all, stay strong, stay together, be the Hokie family I know you all are.
LETS GO HO-KIES!

This issue got me very upset.  My kid’s still yonge, one going to high school in a couple of year’s.  It scares me that there are people out there that need such help.  It’s hard to put any more security in a school then there already is.  What scares me the most is first it was a high school, than a university what’s next....Elementry school?  I feel so bad and upset for all the people effected in the incodent and I wish all the families all the support I can possibly give.  It’s hard but they are in a better place now.. With God watching over all of you!

Axel Meyer

A tragedy well beyond words.

I am genuinely feeling the pain way out here in California.  How could I not.  I am sorry for the huge losses though such words seem so inappropriate.  Our thoughts and deepest prayers are with the families of all victims, but especially those that were lost.  So senseless.  Just senseless.  I weep for you all.  I really do.

This could have happened to anyone, anywhere.  Sadness.  Complete and utter sadness.  The pictures.  It is too painful to even look at the faces but it seems I owe it to them to do so.

The biographies.  What great people.

I am so sorry.  I pray you are somehow able to heal over time.  Hang in there.  Somehow you have to just get through this.  I wish there is something I could say to help.  I really do.

Pray and have faith.  Always have faith.

Dear Lord.  Help these families.  They need you now very much.
