To the VT Hokie Family,
I just want to express my deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to Virginia Tech Students, Faculty, Staff, Alumni and those Families associated with Virginia Tech.  I know this not only hits close to home for residents of Virginia but for our great nation as a whole.  I wish you all the best during this time of sorrow and healing.  I am deeply touched by this most tragic event.  I ‘m retired from the US Navy and reside here in Chula Vista, California.  I grew up just outside Syracuse, New York and this hits very close to home for me.  Again, I am deeply sorry.  I have purchased some Hokie memorabilia in hopes that we shall never forget.

Sincerely, James Hyde

May God be with all of those affected by this tragedy. I pray that He will show Himself to us all, His shining face… in contrast to the hideous face of the adversary.

Ever since the attacks yesterday morning. I haven’t been able to look at things the same. I’ve never seen something so disturbing in my life as the attacks at Va Tech.

I wish I could call every Va Tech student and talk them and comfernt them. That is how much this effected me. I can’t even begin to describe how much this saddened me. This event changed me in ways even more then 9/11. I have cousins that go there and thankfully there ok. I always enjoyed watching Va Tech football and basketball. But now I’m going to be a Hookie fan for life. If anyone out there is from Va tech this is for all of you. I haven’t thought of anything different in the last day. I won’t ever forget this.

Stand together Hookie nation.

Dear Hokies,

Our hearts go out to you. It’s hard to imagine what you’re all going through but just know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.  It is gut wrenching and heart breaking just to hear the stories on television – can’t even think what it’s like to actually be there.

We pray that you will be comforted during this time of loss and grieving.

Even though we’re far away, we are in this together as a nation. God bless all of you.

I have been thinking about this tragic event constantly for the past 2 days. My heart is aching and I cannot even imagine how those who were affected are feeling. We as a nation are grieving with you and please know that you are not alone. They may have been taken away from you and there is nothing anyone can say to make you feel better. Just hold on to the memories you have and always think of the happy times. The man that is responsible for this horrific act was sick and took the cowardly way out. I am truly sorry for your loss. We all love and care about you Virginia Tech. Stay strong and lean on each other. We are all here for you. Jen

To the Staff Members and Students…
Our prayers go to all of you and those families who have lost loved ones.  We cannot understand how someone could do this to his fellow students and professors. You will all get through this eventually but it will leave a scar in your hearts for life. We have watched the “HOKIES” recently in the NCAA basketball tournament and being from Connecticut, home of the UCONN HUSKIES, we are so proud of all of the students at VT...God Bless All of you.

I’m Free

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free
I’m following the path God has laid you see.
I took His hand when I heard him call
I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work, to play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found that peace at the close of day.

If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Oh yes, these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full, I savored much
Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and peace to thee
God wanted me now; He set me free.

This tragic incident showed how ignorance can lead to violence and end up in situations such as this. Something as horrible as this should never happen, especially to those who have hopes and dreams, such as the victims. it still puts me in disbelief that a respectable being was responsible for this, but it also angers me how innocent people are effected by tragedies everyday. I wish nothing but the best for you, and may brightness come sooner. Nothing like an incident such as this one that reminds you of how precious life really is.
as a wise man once said, “Live everyday as your last”.

April 18, 2007, 7:17pm • #20895

How sad it is that life came so short for these children and teachers. May God be with all the families during this time of sorrow. remember the great time you had and the beautiful smiles. What a loss we as Americans have suffered to never get to see just what they were going to do for every one. God Bless You all.

Everyone is in mine and my family’s thoughts and prayers. It is a tragedy to lose so many young lives to such meaningless violence! God Bless all the families of the victims. It would comfort me to know that my loved one is in a peaceful place where the violence of THIS place can never touch them again!
