I offer my heartfelt condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of the fine young men and women whose lives were so unexpectedly, sadly, and so pointlessly taken from them at the start of their adult lives, when they had so much to offer.  I cannot imagine the pain and suffering being experienced by so many.  I only wish that we could all take a little of your pain to help ease your burden.  May I also be allowed to express my sorrow to the family of the young man who carried out this dreadful act.  They too need to be comforted and supported.

It’s hard to find words to express what you are going through right now, but God still loves you guys. I can’t imagine a mother or father losing a child so young, but God loves them best. I am a mother myself, and it’s hard to see those young people caring that much weight right now in their young lives. I will keep all of you in my prayers and hope that someday you will be able to move from this tragedy. God Bless All of You !!!

My family and I have been deeply saddened and shocked by the horrific events that occured April 16th.  We have you in our prayers day & night.  Noone should ever have to experience a life or death situation like the victims and wounded had to. And the families should not be in mourning right now over such a senseless act. Stay strong.  Stay together. There will be a better day. God Bless All.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of Virginia Tech, especially the families and friends of the victims. I realize words cannot make anything better, but I hope knowing how many people have all of you in their prayers may help in some small way.

My name is Megan Weimar and I am a 22 year old senior at Florida State Univeristy.
I’d like to begin by saying that every last ounce of my heart and soul is resting with you all tonight. I genuinely wish I could be there at this very moment to hold each and every one of your hands. My prayers and thoughts are with you and you alone. This experience has humbled me and brought me to my knees and I am truly devastated. You all have so much spirit and so much love and I would do anything I could to help you in this time of need. This deeply hits home for me, as when I left for my own classes on Monday I saw that you all were experiencing a crisis. Upon returning home saw the morbidity of the situation and immediately felt your pain. I feel like I haven’t been able to focus on anything else ever since. From the Seminoles to the Hokies, WE LOVE YOU, WE LOVE YOU, WE LOVE YOU and we hope you all feel the tremendous support we are building beneath you. Don’t let this break you my friends.

"We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters.” (1 John 3:16)

We remember those who gave their lives in a few horrific and chaotic moments so that others might live.  And for each innocent life lost on that horrific morning we shed our tears and let the grief settle in our hearts.

To the families and friends...your burden is ours, and we carry it with you until that day when your sorrow has once again become joy.  The path may be long, but you shall never walk it alone…

Amen.

I did not know any of the victims at Virginia Tech. I cannot express the horror I felt when I turned on the tv Monday and saw the news.  At first I thought it was a mistake.  I have been reading and watching the news since Monday and I feel like I have lost a sister, brother, friend, father.  My heart and prayers go out to everyone who lost loved ones and I pray for the recovery of those who were wounded that they will soon be healed and to know that God will see you thru this terrible tragedy. i did not know any of the victims at this college. But, I am glad to know that the mad-man is no longer with us and can’t harm us anylonger.  My prayers and love goes out to all of the families and I wish I could do something to help you with your tragedy. Thank you for holding up and not giving up. Good Luck.

One may leave, one may come, but that does not surmount the horribleness that’s surcome.

My prayers go out to those lives that have been lost, and the families and friends who have been affected. As a student, one month away from my own graduation, my heart aches for those souls who were robbed of such a promising future. I pray for those who survived to live the life they are destined to lead.

God Bless

INVICTUS

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

I have been wearing a vintage 1980s VT cap that I traded for back when. It has been tucked away for 25 years or so and my wife always wanted to throw it out but I said then and will repeat now that your colors are the best, the name Hokies is just
the coolest out there, and the mascot on this hat
is something right out of Disney.
I caught Nikki Giovanni’s spirit yesterday and am proudly answering “Yes” as dozens of people have asked if I went to VT. My heart went there on Monday. Everyone of us who has a student(s)in college has a moral obligation to see to it that
our kids are more alert, kinder, and loving. Pray now that our politicians keep these weapons where they belong - in police stations and military barracks. God Bless the loved ones left behind.

My heart aches for you all. For the students, the teachers, the first responders, for the witnesses to the horror.

I cry as I read about the victims, and of the heroes. The professor who survived the Holocaust and blocked the door with his body to save his students. The students who slammed doors and piled tables, who tended to their classmates’ wounds as the madman continued his rampage.

I cry for the brothers and sisters of the victims. And for the parents. Burying a child is something no parent should have to do.

I cry for you most because I know that pain. I had less time, but I had a room to clean out, and a handful of pictures. I have wrestled with the tears that the “What ifs” and “should have beens” bring to my throat.

You will live in a fog for the next few months. It is Nature’s way of getting you to the next stage, her way of protecting you from the constant pain. The pain will scab over. But the scab will pull at its edges, reminding you it’s there. It will crack and bleed when you least expect it, and the weight of your grief will be a tidal wave that you will struggle against.

“I am so sorry for your loss” seems so trite, and yet is the only thing that can be said.

I am so sorry for your loss.

I am chilled thinking of the pain, sadness - emptiness that is now forever. I pray that each family is able to find peace, solace! Everyday, I pray for mankind today is no different - maybe I will now include the selfish, sinister members of mankind. They walk amongst us and we know nothing of their presence until its unleashed. I pray for healing for us all - because that’s who this has affected. ALL OF US!!

Virginia Tech became part of my life in August of 1997 when my daughter became a Hokie.

Prayers and blessings from the students, staff, and faculty at Christian Theological Seminary, Indianapolis, IN.

April 18, 2007, 6:51pm • Indianapolis, Indiana • #20441

Our prayers are with the Virginia Tech students, families, faculty and administration.

Our son, Andrew, will be attending Virginia Tech (engineering) in the fall.  While the tragic events of April 16th unfolded, not once did he nor the rest of our family discuss withdrawing from VT.

Since Monday, Andrew has worn his VT sweatshirt and cap in tribute to his “Hokies”.  This is even before he has taken his first step into the classroom.

Our family has witnessed the courage and demeanor of the students, faculty and administration on every type of media available and this has reinforced our beliefs that Andrew will “definitely’ attend Virginia Tech in the fall.

Again, our prayers are with the Virginia Tech students, families, faculty and administration.  It is you who have shown the true “Hokie” spirit.

I am still numbed by the events of last Monday. To all lost, we will never forget the tragic incident that occured. Most lives were just about to get started as many were so close to graduation, remember always the great times you had with who you lost, praise them in every way. Remember that God uses us all for a purpose even when we want to be in disbelief about it and ask why. Sometimes it’s not meant for us to understand right away but I know he has them. Pray for eachother, unite with eachother, learn by eachother. May peace be with you I wish you all be filled with love.
