Our deepest sympathies to the Virginia Tech family. My husband is from Galax and many of his classmates attended Virginia Tech in the late ‘50s and early ‘60s. We are both retired teachers and admire those who go on to higher learning.
There are no words to convey our sadness and respect for the young adults and faculty who acted with heroism and selflessness, too many paying the ultimate price.
We grieve with the country, the academic community, the parents, children and friends at your unspeakable loss and pray for your comfort and consolation.
We send our love to all of you.

To all the families and friends,

13th March 1996, 16 children aged between 5 & 6 years old and their teacher were massacred during a gym lesson, others injured.
My country stopped........ I have felt your shock, pain, grief, rage...... I am so sorry that this has happened to you all also.

The world grew silent, except for cries
From innocent Angels spare their lives.
Mankind must unite, and innocence FEEL;
Only then can our World finally heal.

May Your God be with You.

Dear Virginia Tech,

I am praying for you. I am very sorry that this happened. I am as shocked as you are. I am trying to make sense of it all too. I can understand who worried that you may be next to go because school is one of the safest places in the country. I am very worried about my sister now. She goes to Ohio University and was in her engineering class at the same time the shooting was happening at your engineering building. I believe though that God will help you and support you as you and the country along with the world try to make sense of this unforgetable tradgy. May God be with you always.

I wish you could have all seen the sullen faces of my 140 high school students when they first heard the news of your great loss. My heart goes out to each and every family affected by this horrific, selfish act of violence. I pray all of us never lose sight of how precious and valuable life is. I pray that we can make the most of each day we are given. I pray that the entire VT community and your families will be comforted and can begin the slow process of healing. The lives of your 32 losses will never be forgotten, especially in the eyes of my students.

Words fail us all in a time of such sorrow and shock.  Our family have cousins and friends in Virginia and have traveled the state for business and for pleasure.  Before we had kids we spent a Christmas backpacking the Appalachian trail with our dog. We hope the beauty of your landscape can give you some hours’ solace.  You all are in our thoughts and prayers.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends, and community to the students that were killed on Monday.  I would also like to send out my thougts to the first responders who took the call to aid their classmates and fellow human.  As an urban paramedic I deal with gunshot wounds frequently but I can’t begin to imagine the brevity of your situation Monday morning.  Taking care of classmates, professors, and friends is a thought I can not begin to imagine.  Seek out the help from fellow first responders and professionals, there is no shame in that.

To the whole “Hokie” student body, the country takes your lead in healing and showing strength.  You are strong! The country supports, loves, and prays for you all.

IT SHOCKED AND SADDENED MY HEART WHEN I HEARD OF THE INCIDENT THERE AT VIRGINIA TECH.  I KNOW NONE OF THE INNOCENT DESERVED TO HAVE THERE LIVES CUT SO SHORT UNEXPECTANTLY LIKE THAT, BUT I KNOW THAT MY GOD IS A LOVING GOD AND WAS AWAITING ALL OF THEIR SOULS THAT WERE TAKEN FROM ALL OF THE PARENTS, WIVES, CHILDREN, AND CO-WORKERS, SIBLINGS AND FRIENDS. IT’S JUST HARD TO UNDERSTAND THAT ANOTHER HUMAN BEING IS CAPABLE AND ABLE TO DO THE THINGS THAT CHO SEUNG-HUI DID, BUT I’M SURE A DIFFERENT GOD IS AWAITING HIM.  MY PRAYERS AND THOUGHTS WILL FOR EVER BE WITH ALL OF THE VA TECH FAMILY AND ALL THE FAMILIES THAT I’LL NEVER PERSONALLY KNOW. I don’t talk too much, because I like to quietly look at the beautiful world and appreciate how people share their love and care with each other. It breaks my heart to hear about this tragic incident at VT. Each and every fallen life was so beautiful and loved. I can’t even begin to imagine what their families and friends have to go through...I pray for all the lives taken away by this tragedy; I pray for all the people that are in the pain of losing their loved ones; I pray for all the brave people who risked or sacrificed their own lives to save others. You all have the tears and respect deeply from my heart. God bless.

Our hearts and prayers are with each and everyone of you. For the families that lost someone and to the family of the shooter. They lost a child this day also. We never know why something happens. We all want to blame someone and wonder what else could have been done. You can’t blame the guns, the cops, the school. The only person you can blame is the shooter. We as a country are so much for FREEDOM of speach, untill something happens then they look at that person or person’s. Look back in history almost all serial killers where weird - the kids in columbian where different. How may “weird or ‘different” people have you met and come to know why.
GOD BLESS YOU and I hope you will look to the skys for your hope, comfort. God can not stop all the bad stuff just know that he was standing by each and everyone one of your family members.
