“Love Them Like Jesus” - Casting Crowns

Verse 1
The love of her life is drifting away
They’re losing the fight for another day
The life that she’s known is falling apart
A fatherless home, a child’s broken heart

You’re holding her hand, you’re straining for words
You trying to make - sense of it all
She’s desperate for hope, darkness clouding her view
She’s looking to you

Chorus
Just love her like Jesus, carry her to Him
His yoke is easy, His burden is light
You don’t need the answers to all of life’s questions
Just know that He loves her and stay by her side
Love her like Jesus
Love her like Jesus

Verse 2
The gifts lie in wait, in a room painted blue
Little blessing from Heaven would be there soon
Hope fades in the night, blue skies turn to gray
As the little one slips away

You’re holding their hand, you’re straining for words
You’re trying to make sense of it all
They’re desperate for hope, darkness clouding their view
They’re looking to you

Chorus

Bridge
Lord of all creation holds our lives in His hands
The God of all the nations holds our lives in His hands
The Rock of our salvation holds our lives in His hands
He cares for them just as He cares for you

Chorus

Dear Students and Faculty:  We are all devastated by the senseless tragedy in your community.  Please know that you are in my prayers.  I was also very glad to see that a memorial fund had been established.  There are countless of 1,000’s of people who would like to help in some way and this gives us a vehicle to do that.  I own a small company in Massachusetts making scented candles.  We probably don’t manufacture anything that you immediately need, but also consider posting a listing of things you might need to help the victims families and the VT community at large.  Bless you and be strong!

Dear Virginia Tech,
God, I pray and cry for the friends of the the dead victims, for the teachers who’s students are now empty seats, for weaving mourning and tragedy into the educational fabric, for the pain within the sisters, mothers, brothers, fathers, family and neighbors, for our saddnes, concern, outrage, disbeleif and acceptance. How do you heal a problem that is both systemic and circumstantial?  Gun control, technology, mental health, privacy and intervention, status, dedication, desire and expectations. We feel angry because this shouldn’t happen and so fix the system so it won’t happen again… and what do we blame? and who is responsible? ... for watching over the sick children so they won’t hurt themselves, for the guns, for violent images, for desensitization, for security and protection… The problems are immense and overwhelming as a whole, yet somehow manageable at a community level. Communities must deal with the problems, people helping people one person at a time. Peace be with you.  God Bless.

I cannot begin to express my feelings of sadness for all the families and friends of the departed. This act was senseless and we may never be able to explain it. He erased their physical presence, but he’ll never ever be able to take their spirit and hearts and souls. God be with all of you always. As Jerry and the ‘Boys always said,"We will survive”.

Content Whatever the Circumstances
10-14I’m glad in God, far happier than you would ever guess—happy that you’re again showing such strong concern for me. Not that you ever quit praying and thinking about me. You just had no chance to show it. Actually, I don’t have a sense of needing anything personally. I’ve learned by now to be quite content whatever my circumstances. I’m just as happy with little as with much, with much as with little. I’ve found the recipe for being happy whether full or hungry, hands full or hands empty. Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am. I don’t mean that your help didn’t mean a lot to me—it did. It was a beautiful thing that you came alongside me in my troubles.

As small as this seems, I want to convey our family’s heartfelt thoughts and prayers for all of you dealing with this tragedy on one level or another.  To those who have been hardest hit on a personal level, I pray you hold on to hope as you find your way through the rest of your lives, as I can only imagine how very difficult every hour/minute/second must be.  Stay strong and feel the compassion that is being directed your way as we all wish we could do more to help you.
Thankfully, my second cousin who is on the women’s soccer team there in Virginia Tech, is safe, but certainly not without pain and confusion of her own.

Take care of yourselves, and one another.

Dear Community members of Virginia Tech,

I stand in solidarity and sorrow with you. I teach at a northern Ontario college and am originally from Montreal, where similar tragic events hit me very close to home.

Time does heal all wounds and we must somehow find the glimmer of light under the weight of the tragedy. Everyone must be made to understand that violence is never a solution to any perceived grievance, and as educators, we are most responsible for reinforcing this fact ...

Dear Members of the Virginia Tech family,
VT sounds like a remarkable place and you should all be proud of the way you have conducted yourselves during this horrific time.  As the parent of a sophomore at the University of Maryland who is hours from home, I wanted nothing more than to give her a big hug after hearing the news on Monday but a phone call had to do for now. Be good to each other and let’s remember that we can never take anything or anyone for granted.  God Bless all of the victims, families and survivors.

My heart goes out to everyone affected by this horrific tragedy.  I can’t even imagine the pain and grief that the families and friends of the victims must be feeling.  Although you may not be able to see past the grief now, one day you will be able to rejoice in the memory of these wonderful people, and even forgive the horrible one who cut their brilliant lives short.  “Rather than mourn the absence of the flame, let us celebrate how brightly it glowed.”
