This poem has helped me though so many tough times in my life. I hope it helps you all too. Its called Footprints in the Sand…
One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.

This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from
anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.

So I said to the Lord,
“You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most, you have not been there for me?”

The Lord replied,
“The times when you have seen only one set of footprints in the sand,
is when I carried you.”

My thoughts and prayers go out to all the family and friends of those who lost their lives and everyone at Virginia Tech.
God Bless,
Christine Bodie

This is just so saddening. My deepest sympathy to all of VT, the families of all the victims including the shooter’s family, and anyone anywhere effected, either directly or indirectly by this terrible tragedy. Perhaps it is not much of a comfort, but just know that so many are mourning with you. To all the deceased: May you rest in peace. To all those wounded, either physically or emotionally by this heartbreaking event: I pray that you will also find your own personal peace eventually, and find the strength to never give up or give in to the heartache life can bring. Let us not lose our hope for humanity just yet, as we often see, as in the case of 9/11 and even this message board filled with thousands of messages of prayer, support, and heartfelt emotion, that we often see the best, most virtuous and often courageous parts of human nature, at the same time that we see the worst of it. I can only hope that these things will NEVER have to happen again.

Dear Hokie Nation,
I am deeply saddened by the events of this week and have cried many tears though I know none of the victims.  Our nation, our world grieves. We must find a way to stop the pain and hatred which have become so rampant in the world today.  May you heal and know peace again.  Nikki Giovanni made us all Hokies with her moving poem.  We are Virginia Tech!

I hate to hear things like this, epsecially knowing that in some way it all could have been prevented. I just dont understand why. and inside I feel for all of you, its painfull, confusion, sadness, hatred and tears come down my face. Coming from a little province in Canada, things like this don’t happen often. However there was an incident last year in another province here, not nearly as horrible though. Walking through my school today, I began thinking these people are never going to be able to get over such tradgey, they have to come back to a school fearing and remembering what took place. So I asked God, I said help them find the answer they want, help them heal inside, and be strong help them to forget the pain and fear but remember the great memories. I really feel like I just I want to be able to take back time because it’s not right and things like this should NOT happen, but the sad truth, it can happen and probably will again somewhere. I am keeping you all in mind the family, the friends, and the victims stay strong, never let go of each other. God Bless you all! Lots of hugs

As a Virginian and from a Hokie Family (both my brothers graduated from VT as well as many cousins), I have visited the VT campus many times.  There is a saying about being a Virginian which I think also applies to being a Hokie - “To be a Virginian either by birth, marriage, adoption, or even on one’s Mother’s side, is an introduction to any State in the Union, a passport to any foreign country, and a benediction from the Almighty God”.  My sincere thoughts and prayers are with the entire Hokie family.  I know Virginia Tech will bounce back from this terrible tragedy.

My heart breaks to see the pain and suffering that you are experiencing as the result of this horrible shooting.  Who would believe such a terrible act could take place on our beautiful campus.  A few years ago I had a daughter enrolled at Tech and I can only imagine the anguish you must all be feeling at this time.  Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.  May God bless you and give you strength.  Pat Hubbard, Class of ‘73

As a VT alum, I’m deeply saddened by the events of April 16th.  I just recently looked at pictures of the UVA vigil from last night and wept instantly.  To see VT signs and colors adourn the grounds of our rival school was overwhelming for me to see.  I was particularly moved by a painted sign which read, “Hoos for Hokies.” Admittedly, I’ve always looked upon our Commonwealth brethren from Charlottesville with a bit of scorn.  Never again, my friends.  The outpouring of support for VT from colleges around the country and people around the world has been extraordinary.

God bless VPI.

Dear Faculty, Students, Families & Friends,

Here is a poem for all of you to remember them…

Falling stars,
Falling fast,
Into another world their cast,
Past from substance,
To nothing born,
Into another world adorned,
And in the twinkling of an eye,
Forever changed beneath the sky,
Yet strengthened,
And not in vain we cry.

God bless all of you.

My prayers, as others’, are with all of the victims, their families and the young generation who must have this atrocity as part of the best time (or so it would have been) of their lives.
I pray that all of you can find peace in each other and with your friends and families.

One thing I am rather disturbed about is that their was a photo of a security guard (or police officer) on top of an Asian adult.  This photo looked as if they were hand cuffing him.  Why is this photo no longer available on any of the web sites.  It was taken prior to the shootings at Norris Hall.

Cover Verse:

For You,
Virginia Tech Students & Family

The God of love and peace
shall be with you…
2 Corinthians 13:11

They say “life goes on"--
just give yourself time
to mourn and accept
and to heal,
Though none of that offers
much comfort right now
with the sorrow and loss
you must feel…
But deep in your heart
if you trust and believe
that memories and love
never cease,
You’ll find God is waiting
and wants nothing more
than to offer you
comfort and peace.
