As alumni and parent of a current student, I wish to share our deepest sympathy with all those who have lost loved ones, been injured, lost their sense of security, and their innocense.  No words can take away the pain we all feel.

Our family is keeping the entire Hokie Nation in our prayers, but especially families who suffered on this tragic day. We are with you.  May God comfort and keep you.

To be absent from the body is to present with the lord. Eventhough, it may hurt God will never put more on you than you can bear. I ask him to comfort and keep a hedge around every family that has been torn apart during this tragedy. I pray no only for strength, but for peace of mind and comfort. No one knows the hour or the day but we all shall be called up to see Jesus. So mourn not, but rejoice and celebrate life. Thank him for the oppurtunities you had to be graced in the presence of all the angels that went home to be with the lord. Be strong for one another, and help each other. Be blessed in so many ways. This too shall pass.... Stay strong....And always remember that you should never question the will of God. Our prayers are with you.

Prayerfully Submitted,
Ms. B. Dennis

To all the Hokies Family:  We can’t explain or even begin to understand why God allows such tragedies to happen, maybe it is to remind us how strong we can be in hard times like these or to remind us that we are all children of God but whatever the reason is, He chose some very special young people to become his special angels.  Our hearts goes out to each and every member affected by this terrible tragedy.  If God brings you to it, relay on him to bring you through it, for it is with his help that you will understand why things like this happe and it is with His help that will get your through it.  Know that evey time you see a rainbow, or feel a rain drop or even see the sunset, it is your child, brother, sister, sending you their love from above.  All of our thoughts and prayers, The Murphy Family

My heart and prayers go out to those that have been touched by this tragedy at VA Tech. I had a friend that graduated from the Engineering program there years ago.  I’m sure he knew some of these wonderful people.  I survived Hurricane Katrina and know you will experience post-traumatic episodes as I did.  Hang in there...your family and friends that lost their lives are watching over you with LOVE.  Things will get better...believe that with your hearts....

I am a student at Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary.  I want you to know that we felt your pain.  The pain was so severe we took out an entire hour out of our Missions class and we all prayed for God’s healing for you.  I sincerely want you to know that even out here on the west coast we feel your pain and are with you in asking God to bring you through this.  We serve a powerful God and he will bring you through this.  May this never happen again on your campus or any campus.....

The real tragedy here is that the right of students, staff, and faculty to self defense was stripped away by ill-conceived “gun-free zone” laws and rules.

If only one trained and licensed student or instructor had been carrying a lawfully concealed firearm this tragedy could have been prevented or lessened.

To the entire Virginia Tech Family –

Words cannot fully express the sadness that I and the whole world shares with you today as we start to move forward from this unexpected and horrible tragedy. To the students, families, friends, administration, and alumni of VA Tech I would just like to express my heart-felt condolences and sympathy. Please know that you are not alone during this time of healing, and my prayers and support go out to all of you who have been affected by this tragedy.

I did not attend VA Tech but visited many times during my undergraduate days, and I know your campus community will pull together – stronger than before – as only true Hokies can do. Our love, prayers and unremitting support remains with all of you!

To the students, friends, family, and faculty of VA Tech....

Our sympathies are with you in this time of great sorrow.  Our hearts go out to you in this time of need.

We may never understand all the events that led up this horrific event but time will prevail and life will eventually go on.  God will never give us more then we can handle.

Find strength in the little things that surround you.  A hug, a kiss, a helping hand, the smell of flowers, the warm sun on your face.  Each day is a blessing.  As days go buy, the wounds will start to heal.

My thoughts and prayers with the victims’ families at this time.  They are with God now in a better place.

Love to all.

Monday the 16th of April has become a nightmare day for the rest of history. I as a student cannot imagine the tragedy that the students, family and friends are going through. We are sent to school to be kept safe and not have to fear for our lives. My deepest sympathy is going to the students that have experienced this horror day, and families that lost their beloved children. No one can explain what happened on monday, the human power is fearful....

I pray for you as the sun goes up until it goes down again as its day has ended, but my prayers never will.

As a recent graduate of the University of South Florida, I am deeply saddened by the events that unfolded on April 16th 2007. It is my belief that the students and faculty who eternally are at rest on those grounds will never, ever be forgotten. My thoughts, prayers, and love go out to the entire Hokie nation.

To all of the families of the victims of this sad day in US history-let it be known that one day the darkness of their murder will be replaced with the joy of what each of them brought to the world. Although it may not be in the near future, one day it will be so.

This tragedy has touched my heart in ways I will never be able to express.

With most sincere sympathy,

I’m not from Virginia but I do live in the southeastern U.S. I’m very saddened about your terrible tragedy I don’t have high school or college aged children but I do have small children and it scares me to wonder what it will be like when we send them off to college one day.  We shouldn’t have to worry about something like that. These were all very smart people trying to make something out of their lives and it’s just not fair for someone to just come and take it all away like that. I know that they were all loved and will be missed and were very brave until the very end...I’m so sorry.  With deepest sympathy, Georgia Mom

For Nikki: A Tribute To Virginia Tech

32 last breaths left this world breathless…
I slipped on my house shoes,
Poured me a bowl of cereal
And turned on CNN for breakfast
I tried adjusting the color,
But my screen was painted red
32 dead
Casualties climbing
It was selfish, but I thought of Nikki
Selected Poems of Love Poems Quilting the Black-Eyed Pea,
That I all have in My House
All blew open as a deathly wind
Snatched my breath away like I was an asthmatic
I flipped the channels, looking for Nikki
For Nikki to shed some light, to give some meaning
For Nikki to breathe life back into me
For Nikki to breathe…
I remembered the moment she inspired me,
“Balances”
And I wondered if this monster tried to balance his grade average
If he’d only read it
If he’d only read her
He would have been cured, his demons chased away
32 lives saved
How can we now balance 32 lives lost?
Nikki?
