It is with great sorrow in which we all bow our heads and pray for those who have left us. May we use this sorrow to bring us all closer together in hopes that we can eliminate such grief from our futures!

May God Bless Virginia Tech!

My thoughts and prayers are with the Virginia Tech community during this extremely difficult time.  I pray that the families and friends of the victims are able to find peace knowing that millions of people around the country are praying for them.  In particular, I want to acknowledge the selfless acts of Professor Liviu Librescau, a holocaust survivor, who sacrificed his own life to ensure that his beloved students could live.  Even in the darkest hours, bright spots of bravery and courage emerge.  Professor Librescau is an inspiration to us all.  May peace find his family, and let them know that millions of Jews around the world, including myself, have said Kaddish for him.

My 10 year old son asked me this morning, as we watched the latest news, “Mom, why would someone do this?” I didn’t know what to say, so I simply wrapped my arms around him and told him I have no idea.  He and his sister and I said a prayer for you all before they caught the bus to school.

I will continue to pray .. for ALL OF YOU.  Take comfort in the Lord, for He is where you will find peace.

Im so sorry for this tragedy. We are all suffering with you.  At first I cannot believe what had happened, but then it hits you and it’s unbearable. Hundreds of lives have just been ruined and taken away for no good reason.  The world is suffering with you because as I look out the window, I see a neverending grey cloud that looms overhead, wanting to weep all the tears that have been shed in the past few horrific days.  Stay strong and we will be able to get through this together.  Let us pray that this event will never be repeated.

My thoughts and prayers are with the survivors as well as the victims families during this difficult period.  I hope that this tragedy encourages people to talk about their difficulties and brings people closer together to share their own thoughts and feelings.  This has been a terrible incident and know that this has affected students here in Newfoundland Canada, as well as the rest of the world.  May you find peace, comfort and healing in the coming days. Shalom.

My heart goes out to every VT student, professor, faculty member, and all within the community. As a college student, this ordeal has shaken me to the core and the sadness and shock I feel is inexplicable.
Your school’s unfaltering resilience and strength through this dark time is so admirable. While this tragedy will be an indelible mark in your memory, just remember the courage and bravery you are all putting forth today - I respect all of you so much. The whole country and world stand behind you.
With love and support,

I thought you’d like to know the President of Tulane University, Scott Cowen, sent the following to the Tulane community:

Like all of you, I was shocked and profoundly saddened by the terrible events that unfolded at Virginia Tech today. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the victims of this tragedy, their families and friends, and with the entire Virginia Tech community.

We have contacted Virginia Tech to offer our condolences and assistance in setting up counseling and any other services their students, faculty and staff may need.

Virginia Tech was one of the many universities that came to our aid after Katrina. They enrolled 24 of our students, giving them a home and the opportunity to continue their studies during the semester we were forced to close. We will never forget them for their generosity and stand with them now during their time of suffering.

Psalm 30:5 “For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.”

It is very hard to imagine in times like these that joy will come; but the hope that comes from trusting in the Lord’s promise will eventually bring you joy.

As a mother of two college students in Alabama, I cannot imagine the pain of those parents who lost their children.  But also as a mother, I have been so proud of how the students have conducted themselves, how they have supported each other and the faculty at VA Tech.  My heart is full of sadness and grief for each of you.  I hope it brings some comfort knowing that so many people in so many places have you in our every thought and prayer.  Just as President Bush said yesterday at the Convocation Service, there is real power in prayer.  I pray for each of you that peace that passes all understanding that can only come from the Lord.  He promised that He would not leave us comfortless.  Lean on the Lord and He will bring you comfort.

I asked the Lord to bless you
in such a special way.
That you will know within your heart
that someone prayed for you today.

I asked that you would know, you are loved & cared for,
and to bring you a sense of peace and your sorrow will decrease.

I asked He grant you strength and happiness
and answer every prayer.
And wrap you in His arms with His
protecting care.

I asked that He fill each day ahead of you
with blessings from above.

May this prayer today
and God’s endless love for you
Be the help and inspiration
to bring you through.
