Condolences, April 18, 2007

I cannot stop crying for the loss the parents of each of these beautiful, gifted children who have had their lives stolen from them. I have a 19 year old daughter in college, I fear everyday that she might not come home. I send hugs to every parent and pray that you somehow can be consoled in this tragedy. Our love and prayers are with you all.

To Virginia Tech victims, their families, & friends…

i listening to this song everytime someone close to me dies. it’s seems to be the perfect song & lately, i’ve been listening to it. my condolences to everyone at Virginia Tech & their families & the professors & the community as a whole.

Avril Lavigne “Slipped Away”
“i hope you can hear me. because i remember it clearly. the day you slipped away, was the day i found it won’t be the same. oh… i had my wake up, won’t you wake up. i keep asking ‘why?’ & i can’t take it. it wasn’t fake it…
now you’re gone, now you’re gone. there’ you go, there you go. somewhere i can’t bring you back. now you’re gone, now you’re gone. there you go, there you go. somwhere you’re not coming back.”

To the Faculty & Staff at Virginia Tech,
There are many of us that serve in the same capacities that you do at colleges and universities across the nation and we are awed and amazed at the pillars of strength and stability you have been for your students.  Know that you and your students are in our thoughts and prayers as you grieve those lost and begin to heal together as a campus community.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends, and faculty of VA Tech. I am a college student myself, and I cannot imagine the suffering and pain that is being felt. I keep thinking of the professor who stood in front of the door so his students could escape, wow, what a sacrifice! God Bless…

I celebrated my 50th college class reunion on the campus of Florida State University on April 12-15; classroom and residence buildings and young students were fresh in my memory when the news from VT flashed around the world. My company’s staff will be invited to wear orange and maroon on Friday. And later on, we must talk about the ways in which our culture criminalizes mental and emotional illnesses. Requests for help start early in the lives of those who are in such pain. We cannot afford to wait...until it is too late.

We share your loss and pray that God will give you all strength to face the days ahead.

I would like to express how impressed we are in the way the students at VA Tech have handled this horrible situation and have shown great love, compassion, and respect for their fallen classmates/friends. You all are truly a class act!

May you all find peace during this difficult time. God bless you all.

I would like to express my deepest pain and sadness for the horrific tragedy which have been occurred bitterly. I quite believe that any kind of condolences and stating sorrow would not reduce the great amount of pain their families and honorable family of Virginia Tech have tolerated. But it is completely clear for me that they rest in peace by their God now. While seeing bitter pictures of their classmates and students of VT, admittedly, it is very hard to control ourselves and tears will appear. That means we are all together united against these kinds of brutalities and this is the great desire of everybody: it must come to an end. God Bless You All, Hokies ...

The church where I pastor in Chesapeake, VA wants you to know how much our hearts ache and also that we are praying for you all.
Lamentations 3:19-24 says, “remember my affliction and my wandering, the wormwood and bitterness. Surely my soul remembers and is bowed down within me. This I recall to my mind, Therefore I have hope. The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, says my soul, Therefore I have hope in Him.” (NASV)
May the peace of God be with you all.

I’ve read through all the pages and pages of comments and have seen them from all over the world, please know that the world truly is with you and this is a time to lean on those close to you.

Sometimes in our lives we all have pain
We all have sorrow
But if we are wise
We know that there’s always tomorrow

Lean on me, when you’re not strong
And I’ll be your friend
I’ll help you carry on
For it won’t be long
‘Til I’m gonna need
Somebody to lean on

Please swallow your pride
If I have things you need to borrow
For no one can fill those of your needs
That you don’t let show

Lean on me, when you’re not strong
And I’ll be your friend
I’ll help you carry on
For it won’t be long
‘Til I’m gonna need
Somebody to lean on

If there is a load you have to bear
That you can’t carry
I’m right up the road
I’ll share your load
If you just call me

So just call on me brother, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you’d understand
We all need somebody to lean on

Lean on me…

It is a sad week for Hokies all over the world.  Know that our hearts are still in Blacksburg with the entire community.
My heart breaks to think and see the community at such a sad place, but I know all Hokies will come to place of peace in the future to come.  Time will heal, but until then know we all stand together. Virginia Tech is a special place… has always been, and will always be!

Please let me extend my deepest condolences to the families of the victims. My heart has been broken by your individual and collective loss.

This event has caused me to feel deep saddness on many levels: as a human being, as a parent, and as a proud HOKIE alumnus. Watching the news coverage, I have found myself recalling a multitude of wonderful memories from my days there. It has comforted me to see the faces of our young, future alumni on TV demonstrating their HOKIE spirit in spite of this incident, and that it is alive and fighting. All of this has made me very eager to come back in the fall for at least one game, and to add my personal self in with all of the others who will stand and claim our Hokie Nation back from this punk who attempted to defile it.

Most Sincerely,

Roger Hennigh

To all those at Virginia Tech, their families, and those affected by the April 16th tragedy…

The events of April 16th, 2007 will never be forgotten and have left a scar on the integrity and the values we all hold as americans. I wanted to express my deepest condolences, thoughts, and prayers with you all here today to attempt to ease the suffering and pain you have felt and will continue to live with. What happened cannot be reversed, and I cannot absorb all that you have hurt, yet may God grant you the serenity, love, understanding and perserverence that we all need to survive those who were taken so quickly, so unjustly...Continue to live life by the fullest and God Bless you all, me HE answer all your prayers with new life and hope…

I was shocked when I heard this tragedy, as an Asian, I feel so sorry about this. That merciless Asian killer was our shame, because most of us are peaceful & friendly people. All in all, We don’t wanna see this sort of tragedy again. We’re all human being, I really hope that “No hate, No kill” in this world. At this moment, let’s pray for those victims together.

Rest in the sweetest peace, to all of the victims of this horrible event. I pray to God that the Virginia Tech community is able to get through this terrible tragedy. My heart goes out to all the people who lost a friend or part of their family. And although it did not know any of the victims personally, many people from my town attend the school, and one of them was a victim. I was shocked to see all of the news reports of what happened. I still remeber back in 2001 when I was driving around in Blacksburg and VT. It was spring time and everything we saw were peaceful and beautiful. It gave us a feeling of what John Denver once sang: Country road, take me home. I was even kidding with my wife that we should consider settle down here after retirement, although I am a blue devil and she is a tar heel.

Now I am back to where I am from, China. My wife is still studying in NC. But the town we love became so famous throughout world in one night in such a tragic way. This is not a time to pinch finger on anyone, this is a time to grieve. We are grieving with you and we are praying for you.
