With empathy:

Your child is not my child.
But, I have children. I have and will send them to college, to the grocery, on an airplane, to work.
In this, your world and mine are the same.
For this, I can glimpse your sorrow and your loss.

I marvel as I learn of the goals and lives your children led. They were and are remarkable.

We wish to extend our prayers to the families of both the students at VT and the families of the professors.  I wish I could even begin to communicate the outpouring of love and compassion that was so evident in the words expressed by our Middle School and High School students last night during our worship time.  We will continue praying for healing for the students, families, and professors.  May God be with you in a mighty way.

We are a team of staff working in a school with children with Autism in Folkestone kent England and are still in shock over the hideous murders at Virginia Tech.  Hardly a moment passes where someone somewhere around our small school does not remark on the atrocious and complete waste of innocent lives.

We cannot for one minute try to understand what the survivors must be going through because it’s all to awful to try and get a grip on.

But we send our heartfelt and heartbroken condolences.

We also worry for the parents of the murderer, how must they feel knowing that their son who they must have loved soo much was capable of such an act.

It’s all so tragic.

Others have expressed what I think and feel and have probably expressed it more eloquently than can I.  Take from my entry that one more person stands with you, supporting you, offering what strength I can.

I am praying for all you students and faculty.
May God restore you to new levels of faith… never lose faith in Jesus, and God....
We can forgive because it was one of your own students.  The best lesson from this tragedy is that we should include other students in our daily life as much as possible.  Caring for one another like you do right now.
God be always with you on your life’s journey.

My thoughts and prayers go out to those and their families who lost their lives at Virginia Tech.  Such a disaster like this makes one realize just how much we as americans are more like family. We are there to provide a helping hand during the time of need.  No matter what college we attend, branch of military we are in, we are all the same.  We must keep on, and look forward.  Once again I would like to express my condolenses to all of those at Virginia Tech.  May god bless each and everyone of you during this time of pain.

We share your sorrow.  Several months ago, our community was devastated when a madman broke into an Amish schoolhouse and killed innocent children.  You think it can’t get worst than that, and then this happens.  The people who lost their lives at Virginia Tech were the best of the best.  Our world cannot afford to lose such people.  Our prayers are with you.

Like the rest of the world, I’m deeply saddened and shocked of the shootings at VT.  It’s sickening to think that evil like that exists in this world....and even more sickening that our children and loved ones are reminded that such hatred and evil exists thru cowardly and heinous acts.  32 men and women lost their lives way before their time...from the stories posted by the media, these brave men and women left an impression on everyone they came into contact with.  I grieve for the families and the students and faculty at VT.  In times like these, I’m always reminded of the saying from John 13:7 - “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.” I pray that the families can find solace in these words, that they can find strength and persevere to rise above this tragedy, and that god blesses the VT community and families that lost loved ones...god bless you one and all.

I was shocked when I heard from a friend at track practice what had happened. I had hoped that senseless acts like this would just stop, but clearly that isn’t the case. My heart goes out to those hurt by this incident, including families and friends of the victims.

I live less than an hour from Heath High School in Paducah, where a young gunman opened fire on a prayer group in 1997. I have been touched by such acts and truly feel for those affected by this.

I am a University of Virginia graduate, so in the past I’ll admit I’ve spent more time making fun of Tech than supporting it. But the way the students, police, and university responded to this situation deserves respect and all the support you can find. I am so sorry for your horrible loss and hope that the families and everyone in Blacksburg find a way to recover.

I would like to express my deep concern for the students at Virginia Tech.  As tragic as the events of April 16th were, I can only hope and pray that this will help to bond the campus in a way like no other.
It is too often that life is taken for granted, in so many ways, that we don’t see how quickly it can be taken from us.  As much as this has rattled a nation, I hope that it reiterates the fact that life should never be taken for granted.
I would also like to let you know that the campus of IUPUI will be holding a vigil for you, in the hopes to also unite in prayer for Virginia Tech.
We hope that someday, things might return to somewhat normal, but like Columbine, no one will ever forget nor be forgotten.
Take care of one antoher.

I am Horrified a human being can be responsible for such Devastation
I am Disgusted with the Senseless loss of so much potential
I am Sorrowful that the lives of so many have been affected
I am Afraid of the upward spiraling violence in our culture
I am Mourning for the victims, their families, and friends
I am Embarrassed for the politicians who are using this event as an opportunity
I am Incensed with people who are pointing fingers at each other in blame; we can only point at one man
I am Impressed that the Virginia Tech community united to find the Love, Support, and Compassion it will need to get through this tragedy
I am Thankful that Virginia Tech has strong leadership to carry it through these Incomprehensible events
I am Appreciative for the support shown by so many people from all over America and throughout the world
I am Hopeful that the students, faculty and staff will move through this and continue to Enjoy, Invent, Learn, Sing, Teach and Impact the world
I am Learning to enjoy every moment
I am Proud to call myself a Hokie
