I am so saddened and confussed by this horrible tragedy.  I do not know anybody from Viginia though my thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims and their families and friends.  Something like this will never have answers to or be able to even understand. The University will Prevail.

Everyone who attends or has some sort of connection with the University, I pray for all of you.  I understand what it feels like to lose somebody that is close to you, the pain will never go away the we will never understand why things happen the way they do.

God Bless all of the victims, family and friends.

God is with all of you.

As the parents of a college freshman at the University of Florida, we were horrified listening to the recent events unfold. Our campus’s should be safe sanctuary’s for our students. Our heartfelt prayers go out to the families and friends of the victims.  May you all allow God to guide you and give you comfort. Our prayers for the students, professors and administrators of Virginia Tech to remain strong.

Grace and peace be multiplied to you.  Please hold on to the fondest memories of your loved one.  I am a single mother of a son who is preparing to go off to college in Fall 2007.  I cannot imagine how the families, students, staff, etc are feeling (including the family of Mr. Seung-Hui).  Please know that everyone around the world share in your sorrow at this time. I hope that you feel our hugs and love that are extended to you.

I am truley sorry for what has happened at your school.  I hope this poem below finds peace to all the freidns and family of the beloved souls who were tragically lost in this horrible event.

May God Bless You All!!!

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn’s rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die…

Seeing my Alma Mater broadcast everywhere for this tragedy is still a surreal experience. The grief and pain inflicted upon my fellow Hokies is no burden anyone should ever have to bear.

I will be attending the Northern Virginia alumni vigil tonight, and all victims will be in my prayers.

You ALL are in the thoughts and prayers of so many people you don’t even know.  Try and find some comfort in that.  And when praying doesn’t seem to be enough, pray some more.  God will always give you the strength to take the next step. How you are responding to this tragedy is so inspirational.  I lift you up in prayer.

We cannot know your pain or grief from the recents events. But we do share your tears, your disbelief at the senselessness of it all. Our thoughts do go out to you, your family and friends and our prayers seek to support, to reassure that in the midst of maddness- we care.
We hope that in time, in some small space, way you will be able to look back not at the horror that took place, but to remember instead the smiles.. joys, laughter and yes the tears of happy silly times past, for it is that that shall keep those who perished alive forever in your minds and hearts.

My sincere condolences and sympathy. Tragic does not do justice to describe the horrific events that happened at this college, and I cannot imagine what the family, friends and community are going through. As a fellow human being and a student as well, I am very shook up and in shock about what has happened. Those who were lost and everyone else affected are in my thoughts. I send you much love and respect.

I know that there is nothing that can be said or done now to bring the ones that were lost in this terrible tragedy back, but while you are going through this terrible situation I want you all to know that we as human beings mourn with you.
Father God I pray for the people that were affected by this terrible incident.  I pray Lord for comfort.  Lord I pray for the families that are just trying to grasp hold of what has happened.  I pray that as they mourn they would know that they are not alone.  I pray that they would never forget that even though the lives of these that were here with us for awhile has been cut short, that you gave them to us only for a season.  We are appreciative of the time that they were with us and we rejoice in the honor and privelidge we had for them being in our lives even if it was for only a season.  Father for those of whom were injured or even there at VT I pray for them.  I pray that you give them strength.  I pray that they will be greatful every day of their life that they are alive and that they will carry in their hearts a special place knowing that you have kept them here for a reason and may they find that reason and purpose and live it out daily. Amen

~The Lord lifts the fallen and those bent beneath their loads.  Psalms 145:14~

From one student to many others, today we stand united knowing that this too will only make us stronger.  A cord of many strands can lift away the heaviness and pressure instilled upon just one.  Virginia Tech (Students, Faculty, Families), There is no answer as to why and may never be; only the fact that each day will be a challenge, with steps forward and falls back, emotions of gladness and joy with moments of despair.  Our prayers are intertwined with yours, our HOPE is that your “Hope will spring eternal” ~ and this will begin the healing process for all.

Do memories that once made you laugh now make you
cry?Do you cry ‘cos you miss someone so much it hurts?Have you felt tears run down your face when you realise you’ll never see that someone again?
Have you ever yearned 2 see that smile again, feel that hug, hear that voice just one more time?
Have u ever caught yourself wondering what happened 2 that life, so full of love, so full of kindness?Have you ever woken up dreaming of that someone and then realised it was just a dream?Have you ever wished that dreams like those would come true and you could live in that world of your dreams?
Have you ever wondered why things happen?
or have u wondered how you are going to face
tomorrow?and what tomorrow would bring?
Have you ever picked up the phone to call that someone and then realised that thta someone is gone too far away?
Have you ever wihshed you could turn back time so that you could do things differently?

Have you ever felt the numbness of pain that slowly fades away only to be replaced by further pain, pain that you wish was numd forever?

Have you ever realised that life has so many “have
you’s” but beneath it all there is still a ray of
hope, a reason to smile, something to be grateful for?

I just wanted to express my deep sorrow for the victims and their families at your great school. The tragedy really bothered me as these are kids, my age and in the same environment that I am in everyday (college) and to know that this can happen anywhere, and by anyone, this greatly perturbs me.

I am praying for the families of the victims, the family of the shooter, the students, and the faculty as you all continue to pull together for strength and rebuild. You have a story of tragedy, but know also a story of heroism and that will be remembered.

God Bless

"The purest treasure mortal eyes behold is a spotless reputation, that away men are but guilded loam or painted clay” - Anonymous

I strongly concur with the poet and empathize with the bereved families and the faculty and staff of Virgina University for the unfortunate and unforseen circumstances - the university’s reputation may be tarnished by one misguided student but there are numerous students who are relying on the university to continue molding lives and enhancing unity in diversity.

As a parent of a college student in Ohio I can only imagine the pain, fear, saddness the VT parents must have encountered and our enduring today.  My first impulse was to call my son to make sure he was okay and to ask him to come home and attend a nearby college.  We want to keep our children safe, innocent and then something like this happens.  My heart and prayers go out to all parents of VT students, those who have been injured and those who have passed.  We have to cling to our Hope and Faith in God and during this time, lean on others to carry you.

To The Hokie Nation,
I am thankful for this website as I now feel I can finally express my grief and sadness to the horror that came into our lives on the 16th. Words cannot express my love for our great University and the people who make it so alive. This spirit can hopefully give some solace to the family and friends of the fallen. Nikki Giovanni said things so well and we are very fortunate to have her in our midst.. As Hokies we will go forward and we will see more wonderful things from the young minds being shaped today. On Monday, our thoughts and prayers will be with you as you continue on the exciting road to the future. I am so impressed by the wonderful support system in place and wish them wisdom and comfort in this time of need.  I, my daughter and son are all Hokies and always will be. See you in the Fall. We are having a vigil here in Northern VA tonight, the 18th, in Great Falls at 8:00 PM. LET’S GO HOKIES!!!

What an unexplainable tragedy but what a remarkable community. To Dr.Steger and to Captain Flinchum and all the administrators at VA Tech, you were faced with an unimaginable catastrophe and have handeled it with compassion and genuine concern for all the students and their families.

The sense of family is palpable. What a truly inspiring community. Stay strong for each other, support each other. You all remain in our prayers. God speed.

I have many friends that have graduated and are still attending VT.  I thank God everyday that none of them were physically hurt that day, although the emotions carried along with April 16th will haunt them, and all of us, for many years to come.

To all Hokies,

I am not a believer in the phrase “God never gives us more than we can handle.” He does.  This is one of these times where you have more than you can handle.  Please know that God is carrying you now.  Let him hold the burden.

With all that is lost, remember, you can’t let evil win.  Hold onto your unity as a campus and take back the peace that you have shared and is rightfully your’s.
