Condolences, April 18, 2007

As an alumnus of the University, I am extremely sad and upset over the recent events on the campus.  I send my deepest regrets and prayers to the families of the victims and highest regards and hopes to the survivors and those still receiving medical treatment.

To the faculty, staff and student body, I am deeply sorry that you have to bear this burden.  You do not bear it alone.  The Hokie nation is greiving with you.

I’m so shocked for this nonsense tragedy; I’ve experienced myself the death of people I loved and I can understand how strong is the pain. I pray for you all to have faith in God, I pray that God could be with you and help you in giving consolation and coming out from desperation as I’ve was helped too.
You are in my prayers every day.

I just wanted to say that I do not go to Virginia Tech, but I feel so bad for you guys.  It reminded me of Columbine all over again.  BUT I know you will get through it just like they did.  If there is anything I could do I would do it, but I don’t know what to do.

As an alum of VT (Class of 1983)I have swelled with pride many times in the past. The football successes, the recent basketball victories and every time I am back on campus.  All of that pales in comparison to what I have felt this week.  In this extreme time of grief the nation and the entire world has seen what a wonderful community the Hokie Nation is.  With out exception, I have been so proud of the young people who have been interviewed.  In this horrible time these students have been so level headed and caring, no one has lashed out in anger, not even a hint of self pity. I salute the current crop of Hokies!  I am praying the God will give what his Word calls “the peace that passes understanding” to all the families and friends of those who have been directly effected.

God bless the Hokie Nation.

In light of the terrible and horrific act that took place on April 16th please reflect on the families and everyone involved. To often we do not value as to what we have and accomplished in life until an incident like this takes place and affects everyone of us. Even though we hear about violence on a day to day basis it is still hard sometimes to “grasp” the idea that anyone would take the initiative to do something as to what happened. For those that you love and care for or even those that you do not talk to on a regular basis make the effort to say “Thank You” for being a part of your life. May God bless you all.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all of the faculty, students, and families of Virigina Tech.My husband is a professor at a local university and we understand first hand how students and faculty become a family. You spend everyday with each other and know everyone on a personal level. To lose them tragically and senselessly is not fair.

Please stay strong- although difficult to watch on tv, it brings me comfort to see all the great stories of heroism and what each victim’s personality was like. It is comforting to see pictures, hear from friends and families, learn about each victims’ passion in life. All of them were loved greatly and their memories will never be forgotten.

Please know the rest of the country (and world) is greiving with you for your loss and we wish everyone our thoughts.

Virginia Tech family:
I was profoundly affected by your loss on April 16th.  Seeing the faces, reading the names of those lost is so difficult.  My sympathy & prayers go out to all of you.  To those injured, may you heal of body & mind.  The Hokie community is a strong loving group, stand together & help all to heal.  Calm & peace will return to your place.  Hug each other, love your brothers & sisters.  The world is grieving with all of the families affected.

Finally, the sad end to such a troubled young man.  There were signs, it seems of his sad mental illness.  Those that tried to reach out to him in friendship, those that tried to get him the professional help he desparately needed.  To them - don’t ever stop trying to help another human that seems to be troubled.  He has a family that is in a grieving process also.  They not only are grieving his death but the numbers of the rest lost that day.  Take the father & mother into your prayers.  Offer them up for strength through this almost impossible time for them.  Forgiveness will be a long process but something that is essential for the long term healing.

To the Virginia Tech faithful,

I am quite confident that there are no words that will, or possibly could, adequately serve to offer you the comfort and solace you so richly deserve in these dark times.  As I’ve watched your tragedy unfold, I am most struck by the overwhelming sense that the world is somehow a lesser place, for it is now robbed of the potential of what could have been.  The stories presented about your lost loved ones have truly touched me and I consider myself lucky to know that people like your friends and family did, for at least a brief and shining moment, exist on this earth at one time.

You ARE the Hokies, and we ARE with you.

My sincerest condolences,
Whitney Bond

I can’t tell you how upset and saddened the recent tragic event at VT has made me. I myself am a college student at the State University College of New York at Oneonta and I would never think that anything like this would happen at a college. I have been praying everyday for the victims and their families as well as all of the students at VT. Tragic events like this should make all of us join together and try to elimate another situation like this. My thoughts and prayers will continue to stay with the VT community, only time can heal these wounds.

Dear Virginia Tech,

I want you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. It’s a hard pill to swallow but, you have to ask GOD for the strength to move on and to forgive… I know that it’s hard at times but with GOD all things are possible. Don’t give the devil any place in your heart. There is a season for all things.

Dear Friends,

Although worlds apart, we all share in your sadness.  There is grief and despair beyond belief about the tragedy that occured at Virginia Tech, a place you all call home.  I am confident that in rallying together, you will overcome this massacre.  Though it is hard, I ask that you put aside the pain and anger.  These feelings can only bring more sorrow into your lives.  Instead I ask that you celebrate those that you lost, and never forget them.  Remember the precious time spent with the departed, and realize how lucky you are that students so special could enter your life and touch your hearts.  Hold steadfast to your motto “Ut Proism,” that you may serve your departed friends by emerging from this horror a stronger, more resilent campus than ever.
