We are profoundly sorry for the horror visited upon your families and your community.  Our hope is that you are able to draw strength from each other and be comforted by all who are reaching out to you.  Your dignity has already shown to all the world the resilience and spirit that will always reside in your school.

The mood today has been somber, amidst my friends, colleagues, peers, family...This has been a tragedy of unspeakable means. We read about the promising students, kids now young adults now that will never be, that could have been our future leaders...we as a nation, as a world, have truly lost so much promise in such a short time. Thoughts, tears, prayers, love go out to you, the survivors, in that somewhere amongst one of you there could be the answer to ending this kind of senseless tragedy. God bless you and keep you all in the palm of His hands.

Praying this prayer for all who have suffered through this tradegy.
God’s Everlasting Love
Romans 9: 37-39
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors though him who loves us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor pricipalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, not any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
With deepest sympathy to all who have been affected by this sensless act of violence. Praying that God will give all the strength to endure what is to come.

In New York, we have felt the shock and devastation of the loss of so many loved ones. Lives left shattered and future memories that will never be. We pray for you, your families and your community. The human spirit is strong and hope will once again return. Those who are gone have made their mark on your lives. Their smile, their laugh, their kindness, their friendship have become part of you. Carry it with you proudly as you remember them.
God Bless.

Dear All,

At Radford University, I’m able to start to finish from 1981 my B.S. from RU. In 2006, I took one independent study class at home & I went to summer school & took two classes. RU is letting me finish my last two classes at home this spring in Northern Virginia. Tech’s graduation on 5/12/2007 is just a week after RU’s. The current tragedy makes our graduations bittersweet, but I finally still very much look forward to my graduation at RU on 5/5/2007.

While at RU the first time, I used to go over to Virginia Tech to square dance with the Tech Trompers college square dance club on Sundays &/or going dancing with them out of town on Saturday nights. I also finally started dating some Tromper girls. So, I have good memories of Trompers. Socializing with the Tech Trompers got me through some tough times I was having while at RU in the late 70’s & early 80’s.

I’m sad & heartbroken about the tragedy over at my sister school to RU (Virginia Tech). I send my hopes, prayers, & condolences for the Virginia Tech community, parents & family, friends, & alumni. Hal T. Miller. http://Caller.tripod.com halmiller@juno.com

What do you really say to a tragedy like this that effects every parent in the world? May God guide all of us through this time of shock and make us all more aware to see the signs because they always seem to show up after the fact. God Bless everyone touched by this situtation and plese continue the prayers for the Families, Students and Friends.

I don’t even know how to express the heartache that I feel right now.  Being from Beckley, WV only makes the pain that much more acute.  I’ll never make sense of what happened yesterday.

All I can say is that I offer my thoughts and my prayers.  Hokies are resilient.  I have no doubt that you will heal and emerge from this tragedy stronger than ever.  I also know that you will never forget, and neither will I.  I pray that God offer you a more complete comfort than mine.

Try To Praise The Mutilated World

Adam Zagajewski

Try to praise the mutilated world.
Remember June’s long days,
and wild strawberries, drops of wine, the dew.
The nettles that methodically overgrow
the abandoned homesteads of exiles.
You must praise the mutilated world.
You watched the stylish yachts and ships;
one of them had a long trip ahead of it,
while salty oblivion awaited others.
You’ve seen the refugees heading nowhere,
you’ve heard the executioners sing joyfully.
You should praise the mutilated world.
Remember the moments when we were together
in a white room and the curtain fluttered.
Return in thought to the concert where music flared.
You gathered acorns in the park in autumn
and leaves eddied over the earth’s scars.
Praise the mutilated world
and the grey feather a thrush lost,
and the gentle light that strays and vanishes
and returns.

Translated by Renata Gorczynski

My prayers and condolences go out to everyone affected by this horrible tragedy.

It’s hard to think that this type of stuff can happen in America of all places. All I can say is that I am sorry for all the losses that have taken place, and that I will keep all of you in my prayers. I just looked at the victim list and was saddened that so many died. Please just stay strong and know the Lord will help and guide you through this terrible event. My deepest sypathy

My deepest sympathy goes out for the relatives and friends of the victims of Virginia Tech.  Although I personally don’t know anyone from there, as a parent, I can feel the pain of the grieving mothers of the victims.  And I can understand their feeling of sorrow and emptiness from losing someone they love dearly and care about.  They’re probably asking “why?” I know I did when my parents died…

Let me just say that we can all take comfort in knowing that our love ones are now in a better place.  A place where there is no pain, no hatred, no jealousy and no anger.  A place of utmost peace and tranquility with God… And therefore, who are we to ask the question “why?”

May the souls of the dearly departed professors and students of Virginia Tech rest in peace and a speedy recovery for those injured in this horrific tragedy.

God Bless…

TODAY AT 2 PM we will gather as a University community for a brief time of prayer at the Peace Plaza.  After few remarks and a brief prayer, we will observe moments of silence and 33 tolls of the Chapel bell—one for each of the victims of yesterday’s tragedy.
We remember in particular Reena Samaha, cousin of Karine Posbic (Class of 2007).
As we continue to watch the unfolding of the tragic events at Virginia Tech, let us join together in prayer for those who grieve the loss of friends, classmates, and family members, those who suffered injuries, those who are providing care and support, and the entire community at Virginia Tech.  Many members of our community have direct connections to Virginia Tech—former classmates, friends from home, or former colleagues.  Here at the Mount, let us be mindful of one another as we reflect and pray.
We remember those who lost their lives in today’s senseless acts of violence.  Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light upon them.  May they rest in peace.  Amen.

 God’s peace,

To the entire VT community, please know that we are praying for you all.  We are crying for you all - with you all.  Someplace that seems so far away, or like just another football team to watch on TV, now seems so close to us here in this tiny town in northwest Iowa.  Our highschool of only 100 or so kids lost two classmates from the senior class last year, one being our son.  To know the grief all the parents, relatives, classmates are going through . . . no words can describe, but our hearts know too well . . . How much more magnified for all of you!  Hold on to each other as you set out on this journey you never asked to go on. We won’t stop praying! Laurie
