Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund Closed
In keeping with a determination made in the summer of 2007, the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund (HSMF) closed at midnight on December 31, 2007. The fund was created in response to thousands of spontaneous donations that came to the university in the aftermath of the tragedy of last April. Those who wish to offer support after December 31, 2007, may do so by making a contribution to any or all of the named funds created by the university in honor of the victims, or to the Hokie Spirit Scholarship Fund, a general university-wide scholarship initiative.
“Words cannot adequately express our gratitude to the thousands upon thousands who made contributions to these funds,” said Virginia Tech President Charles Steger. “Their generosity has played, and will continue to play, a critical role in our collective ability to surmount this tragedy, and move ahead in ways that will honor our loss.”
